Title: You should read this!
Post by: dL on June 01, 2005, 09:39:51 AM
One good reason to quit is cost. You’ll have more money if you give up tobacco. Of course, quitting also protects you from debilitating illness that can cost even more in the long run.

Speaking of debilitating – believe it or not smoking can have a profound, negative effect on a person’s love life. In addition to making you smell bad, affecting your breathing, and wrinkling your skin, smoking can destroy blood vessels, especially tiny blood vessels, which can impede your sex life.

Smoking has been linked directly to sexual dysfunction in men, and it's believed to have a similar effect in women. One noted urologist, speaking on the news program 60 Minutes, said when he sees a man smoking, he wonders when -- not if -- he will experience erectile dysfunction.

Studies show that tobacco-users in general don’t live as long as non-users.

Smoking makes its biggest assault on the lungs. People with Chronic Obstructed Pulmonary Disease or Emphysema often end up on oxygen and cannot live a normal life. Many can't walk a few feet without having to sit down and try to catch their breath. Cancer that starts in the lungs of many smokers can often have devastating effects, spreading throughout the body to involve the liver, kidneys, bones, and brain.

I think the writer makes an excellent point.  I, for one, won't smoke another cigarette.

I may be behind the times, but at least I enjoyed the smooth bold flavor of my Marlboro Lites twenty four hours longer than you did.  Sucker.

I tried and I heared it helped to replace the smoking with another activity. So I started shooting Heroin. I'm proud to say I haven't smoked since! I beat an addiction.

Of course, now I just need to beat the remaining addiction. If anyone has tips for this internet addiction, I'd really like to know.

Try being a workaholic.  You'll earn more money to help you afford your heroin.

smoking has increased my sexual appeal. THis guy is dead wrong. When every I set my pants on fire and the smoke rises, the chicks come running. Usually in an ambulance to get here faster.

Man, you're all so behind the times. I quit smoking when I was born. Then a few days later I picked up second hand smoking. Man, best thing I've ever done. Now look at me. I mean, yeah. So what.

An excellent illustration of why second hand smoke is dangerous.  You could end up like Gemm.

So, did this person join just so they could put up this advertisement? Lame. That is sneaky, underhanded marketing, and I don't approve. And, considering that the majority of members are not addicted to smoking, and have never had the desire to smell like an ashtray while simultaneously putting tar in their lungs, entirely pointless as well.

Although, I guess if it helps one person on our board quit, it was worth it.  ;)

They didn't actually join, just post, and this is the category for shameless plugs.

But it's not even plugging a product. It's a drive-by-spamming.

Fell: I didn't know you could post if you weren't a member; how interesting. Has this happened before?

Fuzzy: A drive-by-spamming is almost as bad as a drive-by-fruiting! (Mrs. Doubtfire)

Gemm: Lol--you're great!

well, it happens occasionally on any forum, even many that require registration. However, my policy is to delete it. I asked JP if he wanted to do it or if I just should. and he got excited, so I thought he was. Before I realized otherwise, conversation had already started. I'm not one to stop conversation, even when inspired by a spam.

I was GOING to, but I was in the middle of three conversations, and when I actually got to it, conversation had started. Plus, it was funny.

This has already happened once on this forum :)

By the way, the Rants section is for shameless plugs and spam. Although I guess there's an argument that "Everything Else" qualifies for that, too.
