The Blue Sword is a terrible book.  A very tall 15 year old (how the protaganist is described) is kidnapped by hillfolk because their king believes she's destined to lead and fight alongside with them against the Northerners. Well they spend basically the entire book training her and that's really all that happens. There are no supporting characters to speak of. The ppl around our main character are there just to respond to her and nothing more. Even the dialogue is unbelievably boring. No surprise there, there aren't any supporting characters for her to talk to.  I was almost finished but I just quit.  I never even bothered to find out what happened in the end.  That's how bad this book was.  Anyone who would recommend you the Blue Sword is looking to hurt you mentally and possibly physically.

Ok my bad for recommending it.  I felt that it was a decent story (though I agree that the dialogue was lacking).  I didn't mean to insult or mentally harm anyone.

Would an ugly sound be someone screaming or  someone dropping a pot and making a really loud noise?

Books / Re: Maria V. Snyder or other reccomendations.

I forgot to mention I'm open to YA (young adult) and adult as long as it's not overly violent (though as far as violence goes I'm pretty good at handling whatever comes at me) and no graphic sex scenes.

Books / Maria V. Snyder or other reccomendations.
« on: January 31, 2010, 01:31:09 AM »
Hi everybody I was wondering if anybody had ever read any Maria V. Snyder books.  They sound really well thought out and have a good fantasy element and I was wondering if anyone could recommend one to me.  I know her books but just haven't read them, should I read The Study series, Glass series, or Inside-Out.  If anyone could recommend one to me it would be much appreciated.  Also I'm open to other fantasy book suggestions as well.

I'm sorry to get off topic here (not that I don't love people making up with each other and stuff) but I'm a new Brandon fan and I was wondering what is the 'Limebaby' and 'Lemonbaby' deal.  I know Brandon's first kid was named Joel (though I haven't read a Brandon book that has a main character named Joel) but I don't know why he was called "limebaby" or why the second is called "Lemonbaby" or "Meatloaf".  If anyone could help me it would be GREATLY appreciated.
