Title: Camera fun shots
Post by: 42 on January 01, 2004, 08:04:25 PM
So as many of you know I got a pet ferret for my b-day. For x-mas I got a digital camera. And here is the picture I snapped of my ferrey, Nefertiti, that I find to be rather humerous.

Feel free to add your own picts to this thread.

Man, if I had a six-pence every time someone said fiskars and cute in the same sentence. I'd be one poor hobo.

Yes Nefer is a kit (baby ferret). She's 8 weeks old. They told me she would grow some more. If she grows a lot then perhaps they really gave a wolverine. Which would be cool.

And the fiskar logo is actually a brand of paper-cutters and scissors.

Yeah, isn't that one of those things where you put the paper in it, the a thing comes down, holding the paper, and something slides across it and CUTS the paper?

I have something similar to that at home.

which makes me wonder why you have a ferret on it.... are you tying to show your ferret who's boss?

I thought he was showing scale. Which is why I asked if she was a baby. She's awfully small.

I just thought the word "Fiskars" was a cool juxtaposition with a ferret. It rhymes with "whiskers" (which is incidentally what I named my first guinea pig) and also sounds like "frisky" which are two things that describe most ferrets.

Whiskers was the name of my cat in high school. My HS's mascot was the Wildcats, and the dance team I was on was the Wildcat Whiskers (corny, I know...). So my cat was Whiskers, in honor of that.

Cute!!

See, now I thought the ferret was just wandering all over 42's stuff with reckless abandon, which is in the general job description for all pets.

Ferrets are great.  Once you get over the smell.

An old roommate and I once took in a ferret that was no longer wanted by its owner.  The old owner had named her Misty, but we rechristened her Fatty.  Fatty Buttnaked.  Her tail was hairless from lack of love, hence the name.  In our care it promptly grew back.  Good old Fatty.  Ferrets are terribly endearing animals.

My daughter just walked in and saw this picture, here is our conversation.

Sarah: Oo! a Chipmunk!
Eric: No. A ferret.
S: Oo! A ferret! I like ferrets. They make me really really happy!

I see Jeff. Who else is in the pic? Maybe it's because it's been so long, maybe it's because it's from the side, maybe it's because I really don't know these people. I don't think that's Izzy by Jeff, is it? Is Brandon the dark back of the head on the left holding a pen?

Yep, no idea.

my only other guess is that it's Dawn who maybe-Brandon has turned his head to talk to.

I don't think Brenna, her husband, my husband and I were there yet.

/me sighs in relief

Morag has too much elbow room for us to have shoved in already.

Brena and her husband were there, they were sitting next to me so they weren't in the shot.  I think you're right about you not being there MoD.  I remember us all thinking you weren't going to show up.

Well, then Brenna and her husband couldn't have been there, because we gave them a ride. ::)

So that's the Morag everyone's been talking about all this time??  ???

I've been wondering about that for a long time. I thought Morag was actually someone's given name.

Yes, my ferret is adorable and she will be even more adorable once I've trained her to steal Mountain Dew out of Spriggan's mini-fridge.

Ah, Bucca Di Beppo's.  That was one fun...and expensive...evening.

Yes, that's me with my head turned.  You know, Sprig, you could have told us you were shooting a picture.  Maybe then we would have looked at the camera...

This is Sharon, Vt, the birthplace of the Prophet Joseph Smith (the first leader of the LDS church, for you who aren't Mormons). This is from my ward campout back in September.

edit: I don't know what's going on. Can't get the pic to upload. And it was a nice picture.

The URL is correct, stacer, but I think geocities doesn't allow outside referrers, so that you can't do things like link to pictures you're storing there. ;)

If you just copy and paste the URL into a browser you can see the rather beautiful mist-covered valley. Just use a different browser window.

You can link externally to Geocities easily enough, you just need to rename the file from .jpg or .gif to something that isn't an image, say .txt, or just .xyz. Geocities it too stupid to block it then, even if the IMG SRC tag is smart enough to still see it.

While 42 is out of town me and Promethous have the deubious title of "Keepers of the Ferrit".  So while he's gone I'm going to exploite the poor thing with the daily "FERRIT ACTION SHOT of the day!"

here you have her figureing out how to get out of the tub, where I placed her because she poops everywhere.  After about 20-25 minutes she figured out how to jump out.

Oooo...

This presents all kinds of possibilities.  The question is, how badly will 42 flip out when he gets back and discovers the pictures of all the things we did to his ferret?

I think it's time to break out the pretty dresses and makeup and...

why are you all looking at me like that?

Of course, with this pic alone you could start a ferret pr0n site. "Naked Ferrets Bathing!"

Coincidentally, my roommate found a mouse in the kitchen sink last night, which this reminds me of. It couldn't get out either. It was a baby, and quite cute for the vermin it was. So I took a picture of it and took it out with the trash, setting it free in the parking lot in 10 degree weather. It headed off with quite a bit of vigor, so maybe it'll survive. I feel bad for it, but not enough to keep it in the apartment.

It's times like this that make me wish I would give in and get a digital camera, for I have to wait to post it till I finish the roll.

Can I assume 42's back, since I saw him posting on the board?  I do have to say, Sprig, that you've wasted a wonderful opportunity.  Only one ferret shot during 42's absence?  So sad.

I've got one more I'll post later.  I didn't take anymore because on Sunday the freaking think bit me when I was takeing her out of 42's trashcan.  And it wasn't a nibble, it didn't let go.  I actualy lifted it out of the trashcan while she was dangling from my finger.  So I grounded her and didn't take anymore pictures.

Grounded her? You mean, you put her on a rubber mat?

No no, it's like Dharma and Greg.  She needs to be more grounded; how can we help her become more grounded?
