Yeah, the highlighting is totally not how to do spoilers.  Still can't read it.  Well, yeah I could, but it was way to hard.

Ruin and preservation working together ala Sazed is what we'd probably see if any two Shards of Adonalsium worked together. :)
Any two that fit each other as perfectly as Ruin and Preservation do.

Which of course leads to the speculation that they might come in pairs.  Hmm... what would we get if we mixed Preservation with, say, Endowment?

What I find interesting is that he was able to use the power of preservation to talk to Spook only because Spook thought of him, at least partially, as divine.  Why does faith play this role in the Cosmere, do you suppose?

As for the rest of the speculation, we know that as an Allomancer, Kelsier had limited access to Preservation's power even in life.  It might be possible that that connection, along with a certain amount of faith from the Church of the Survivor, allowed him to temporarily hack into the deeper powers that Preservation had?

Ah, the world-building is tantalizing.  Any other guesses?

It has to do with the spiritual realm affecting te physical and mental realms.

Go Realmatic Theory!

So, let's see if I've got this straight.  Partial Lashing: Binds an object or person to a point in space, so that that point becomes "down" for that object.  Full Lashing: Binds objects to a point or other object. (I'm a little fuzzy on this one.)  Reverse Lashing: Maintaining contact with an object, makes that object "down" for anything free to move in the vicinity.  I just got why it's called Reverse Lashing as I was writing that. :D

I'm wondering if the number 10 plays a big part in the series. We've seen 16 played out many times in the Cosmere. 10 heart beats for a Shardblade seems like a structured number to me. Or it is just structured for Szeth that way. MAYBE! Other Shardbearers can call their blades with more beats if they are weaker, don't possess high amounts of Stormlight?

Szeth mentions that he's the only one able to do what he does, so I don't think amount of Stormlight makes a difference in calling the Shardblade.  If more people could use Stormlight like that, they wouldn't use it for illumination.

Also, Spren?  Little creatures attracted to emotion?  Harmless? Dangerous? Important? Not important?  I'm gonna bet important, and hold off on whether they're dangerous.  Szeth doesn't seem concerned about the Fearspren at least.

You should have kept reading Helios.  You know how everyone says it's awesome? They're right!  Shardblades and Shardplate and Lashing and Stormlight and Spren and a King and women with one really long sleeve, all in the same prologue!  I sure I had a big goofy grin on my face the entire time I spent reading it.  Epic Win! ;D

I guess because instead of continuing on to the afterlife proper, i.e. where Vin and Elend wind up, he stuck around to see how thing turned out.  Perhaps he could talk to Preservation from there.  Not that Preservation would be able to say much.  He may have even followed the other characters around, figuring stuff out with them.  He also trusted the mist, so if he figured out the connection between it and Leras, he might have just grabbed it without knowing what it was.  End Speculation.

I imagine that something that would have killed anyone else, but not like having his skin ripped off, happened to him, but he used his crazy allomantic feruchemy healing to get all better.  As the story of his recovery spread, the wounds he sustained became more extreme with each re-telling, and he never bothered to correct them.

From the banks of my memory, *ahem* "I named you. I was your friend. Wasn't that enough?"  Yeah, he said that when Leras died, Kelsier was waiting and grabbed the power.  In this way, he was able to send his messages to Spook the same way Vin later sent messages to Elend.  He mentioned that the reason Spook could hear Kelsier is because Spook actually believed in Kelsier as a God when the other crew members did not.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: How did you find out about Brandon Sanderson?

I was walking through the BYU bookstore in late 2006.  The cover of a certain book caught my eye.  I walked over and picked it up.  There was a blurb on the front by Orson Scott Card, proclaiming it to be the greatest book of fantasy to be written in many years.  I flipped it over and read the back.  At the line, "Eternity ended ten years ago," I knew I had to read the book.  I bought Elantris, which was only $7.00 hardback, presumably because Brandon teaches at BYU, took it home and loved it.  As soon as I finished, I went looking for more.  There was Mistborn.  That was actually full price, and I was poor, so every day between classes I would go to the bookstore, sit, and read.  Once 2007 hit, I went to Japan for two years for the same reason Brandon went to Korea.  But I gave explicit instructions that Well of Ascension be waiting for me when I got back.  I now own all three of the books, and all signed too.  I attended the Warbreaker release party and got #17.  And now, I'm reading the entire Wheel of Time for the first time because I'm a Brandon Sanderson fan, rather than the other way around.  Go Brandon! ;D

The only one I can answer is #5.

Normal inquisitors have between 9 and 11 spikes, and each one imparts exactly one power.  So, I'm inclined to believe that each inquisitor was focused on getting the most important powers.  Copper, for instance, is useful when you're hunting mistings.  Aluminum is basically worthless.  More likely they doubled up on the useful powers. (Giving them the ability to pierce copper clouds, etc.)

As for the others, I'm just as clueless as you, and Brandon seems reluctant to answer #7.  But we've all been focusing on a Lerasium/Atium alloy specifically.  Maybe he'd answer about the other alloys?

Yeah, he'd probably finish SA before starting on Dragonsteel, or, say, the next Mistborn trilogy.  But I understand that he's got a lot of ideas for standalone novels, including possible sequels for Elantris and Warbreaker.

I thought I heard mention of a "Two SA books, one other book, Two more SA books, etc." pattern.

Ahh, but in HoA we learn that Ruin definitely cannot read anything on metal, because he can't actually see it.  It's just blinding light.  That's why Marsh had to read Goradel's message for him.  And aren't we glad he did. ;D

Listen to Peter, this is a man who knows what he is talking about.  And that's the best theory I've heard on the subject, so I'm gonna run with that.
