I think I was more responding to 42 than you, SE.  Though, to be honest, I was partially responding to my own inclinations.  It seems that we are all generally too quick to jump on anything that seems too mainstream.

An "adaptation," meaning things will get changed. If it weren't for adaptation, we'd have no Lais of Marie de France, no Mallory, no T. H. White's Once and Future King. And that's just Arthur.
