Writing Group / Re: Everybody's Current Projects
« on: September 13, 2008, 09:17:46 AM »
I am actually working on a project. It is a dark fantasy tale( i cant say trilogy or series given that im not sure how long it will be). What i want from this however is to accomplish major elements that happen in life. I want to capture the magic of a pair falling in love. Of a man finding himself in the place he couldn't be happier. Of someone realizing that they can never be loved--that love was only for a few and the rest would have to settle with content. Of someone leaving her world in search for more--in hopes to be able to say i love my home for what it is and not becuase it is the only thing i know. For an assassin to become a priest. I want to capture what i have begun to call inner revolutions.

I say capture because i don't simply want to write about them. I want the reader to feel submerged in the tale, to find his/her heart throbbing, ripping, faintly beating to nearly vibrating! i want the reader to let out a sigh of exhaustion that comes after a good long run at sunrise when they finish my book...that is what i wan't more then ever.

If anyone here has a self instilled conflict--whatever it maybe--please tell me. I really want to know!

Develop a religion where people worship something that no one would ever worship in our world. And it can’t be silly.

The people of Anerea, they worship soil, dirt, or eath as they like to call it--sounds less demeaning. At the center of the tribe a large hole is dug into the ground. Large is enough to hold a priest and a handful of believers--this is where people came for forgiveness and prayer. They would pray to the dirt; the giver of plants and consequently food, and the wielder of trees that wall the outer lands of evil from them, it is also vast and stable--unless they upset it. Then it rages. It shakes them whenever displeased, it falls on them its mighty willows, and when it ceases, the villagers set out to look for the crack that has surely opened. It is here where they make their sacrafice--usually they slaughter a lamb or pig; they let the blood spill, and eventually drop it into the bottomless void. If famine occurs, and or the Rumbles do not stop--the sacrafices become more precious. The order of sacrafice goes like so; Lamb/pig, a sinner, a volunteer man, a volunteer women, a priest of the church, and finally a newborn baby. I'm really getting carried away--wow i make no sense.

Jumps into the Void.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Mistborn as a Video Game

Definitly cans see it as an rpg. In the same sense as oblivion, where one could choose his race and gender. In this case though, it would be gender, then i would think a choice between a Feruchemist, Allomancer, an inquistor and even a Koloss! Not so sure if anyone would want to be a Kandra--not enough DOability. IT could even branch out and have a Fable like approach where the player can choose to be evil or good--even if they are an Inquistor(i will always have hope for you Iron-eyes).

The greatest part though, is that the story of MB is so vast, the events of the tale are so...spacious. That the game wont be binding--like most games that come from books or movies turn out to be. However, i have a good feeling about MB. Reason being, is that it....well lets just list all of the major, action packed things that have occured already. A Revolt. A Revolution(in consequence). A Seige(this opens up oppurtunities for Assasinations. An Epic Battle. And a Worldly Discovery. And! Its not over!

In short, Mistborn=Assassin's Creed, Fable, Oblivon. :o

I definitely think you SHOULD memorize the dictionary. ha ha. j/k.  No, you didn't offend me, I just like to make statements where I put myself in another persons perspective.  Like if I was my friend Missy, that's what she would have said, so I said it. ha ha. I just like to bring in different ideals now and then, it's fun.

Thats sounds...challenging. Let me see what would Dr. Cox from Scrubs say to that. Oh!

"miyabe, for all that is good in the god forsaken place ne-ha-ver again try and explain things like that to me. I mean really, i dont care. You want to know just how much i dont care? hmm, lets see. Let me just make a list of all the things i would rather do then read another one of your "what i like to do" messeges. I would rather eat cactus, milk a bull, drive a pink escort, am i making myself clear? "cuz the list goes on and on and on and on and on? Why are you still reading? newbie? Leave. Now."

Ok. you dont watch scrubs, first of all, whats wrong with you and secondly that was a perfect Dr. Cox.

I only hope it is Rashek. That would help reveal what he meant when he said, in the end of bk1: "you dont know what i do for you..."

Now that we have come this far. Does anyone have any updated theories on what exactly was it he meant?

I personally think he might have been the only one who could know how to use the power, not really well but better than anyother man. I think that not only was he a Terris man but i believe that his emphasis or specialty was Nature.

Idk. What do you guys think?

Sorry Miyabi if i offended you in anyway dude. :-\. Im not really like that actually, i mean i was kidding before about that whole my girlfriend bit. In all seriousness, i would probably be an Allo if a lived in Luthedal but only for sheer necessity. however here, in this world, Feruchemy without any doubt, i could read all the books i want never forget them. Oh! I could read the Thesarus, the Dictionary, and the Quran! Admitly, i would be pretty awesome to be like Sazed. Miyabi dude im sorry.

p.s. if anyone has any suggestions for books i coulf read, rather than wait until the 14th that would be coolness.

Hmm...? Happyman, are you saying that since Alendi was not the actual HOA and that since....oh i forget his name--the terrisman who at first announced Alendi as HOA but then thought better...ok anyways. Im confused, are you saying that the terrisman not only figured out that Alendi wasn't the HOA but thought it was Rashevak? He does state some attributes about his nephew( that he hates what his people are doing, letting a nonterrisman be the HOA, and that he hates Alendi more acutely). Can those be traits he bears in his metalminds of what the HOA would be like? Im i making any sense?

Help. Or, im of the needing of the help? that was supposed to be a Spookian accent, in case you probably, and most likely didn't figure.

A scholar...thats cool. I love learning about new things, and reading...does that make me a scholar?? Hmm. I like Feruchemy in this world, that way i can store everything my girlfriend has to say, and even her mom's name without having really listen...that would be nice...and if she was mad at me i could always just store my energy into one of my metals and claim im sick and she will then turn to me with caring eyes and give me sweet puppy love.....yeah Feruchemy would be awesome!
