Title: Ultraviolet
Post by: Lieutenant Kije on February 16, 2006, 10:31:42 AM
So I've started seeing ads for this movie, which looks like Aeon Flux Redux but with Milla Jovovich.  While I will admit that Milla looks 1000x better than Charlize Theron in a tight leather death-dealing suit, is the film going to be that much better?  Anyone heard anything?

I just commented on this movie less than 10 minutes ago on another forum
for convenience, I will copy/paste

Ugh. I haven't even read the description yet, but
what the heck is up with THIS picture? (http://imdb.com/gallery/ss/0370032/1648.jpg?path=gallery&path_key=0370032&seq=3) She doesn't look remotely comfortable holding that sword. Much less threatening.
And then there's this one. (http://imdb.com/gallery/ss/0370032/Ss/0370032/4207.jpg?path=gallery&path_key=0370032) While I can admire spread-legged spandex, the glasses have got to go. And the hair. No. Just no. Look, I'm into geek chic as much as the next guy (if not more), but those glasses are for retards. And the hair is fake.

I'm not sure about the glasses or hair either. They just seem off somehow.

It does seem to be lot like Aeon Flux, in fact when I first saw the teasser I thought it was another teaser for Aeon Flux. But Milla Jovovich is at least more experienced action star than Theron.

I don't think the expectations are that high for Ultraviolet. This could be good or bad depending on how good the movie actually is.

I started a thread for this movie weeks ago, and nobody cared, and now Kije starts one and everybody jumps on the bandwagon. I know which way the wind is blowing.

The potential for spandex clad action girl movies to be good has never been overly high.

maybe I just didn't care back then. Like I said, it was a timing issue for me.
