Title: Thought re: Bios
Post by: The Jade Knight on August 31, 2005, 03:59:31 PM
Feel free to kick me if this is already implimented, but I've a thought . . .

I'm assuming that Bios are currently appended to each and every review.  However, I know that using an ASP include file (I'm assuming this can be done with PSP, etc., as well), you could actually make the Bio a variable or include call, and so if you updated the bio one place, it would get updated everywhere…

Or is there a reason we particularly don't want this?

bios are currently only appended if the author puts one in with the article. Oh, and I do EUOL a favor usually and copy/paste his.

PHP is supereasy to have a variable like that. It's the whole principle of PHP. We just never coded it. Look down at the TWG 4.0 section below and you'll see discussion on this. automatic Bios will be implemented in some manner, I think. It's just how we want to do it. rather, how Sprig wants to do it.

The Bio will be a variable that you'll be able to fill in via your forum profile.  I feel this is the easiest way to manage them.

That's a good idea.
