So stacer? Any decisions on the car name? What are you leaning towards?

Just as long as it isn't something like Phil.

It's definitely not Phil. It would be very cool if it were to look like that new Batmobile so I could call it that, but since I can't...

Hm.

I'm leaning toward Throckmorton, but that's just because it's a cool-sounding name, and not because it has any personal meaning. I've been thinking about it from time to time and haven't come up with anything. My friend also thought Throckmorton sounded cool, so others agree, but there's still that thing that it has no personal meaning. When I told him it had no meaning, he didn't take his vote away, so perhaps I'll go with that.

Throckmorton has meaning to me. (But, since it's your car, that doesn't really help you.)

However, you can build stories over time. It doesn't have to start out that way. In high school, my best friend Skyler (who had a crush on me and who I knew had a crush on me but pretended I didn't because I didn't like him like that) asked me to name his car, and I named it Bubbles because it was girly and cute and I didn't want to name his car and I was sure he wouldn't use it. But he did. He called it Bubbles. (Man, was he whooped. Never be like that, boys. Keep your dignity and draw the line somewhere. And I know maybe I shouldn't have thought it was funny. But I was 16 and the guy worshipped me--guys shouldn't give teenage girls that kind of power. It's dangerous!) Anyway, my point was that the name doesn't necessarily have to start out with major significance. It can grow on you, over time.

I'm sure Skyler came to love the name Bubbles. He always made sure to refer to the car by that name in my presence. And it always made me smile.  ;)

Besides, I got blasted by plenty of guys I liked. It's the way of the jungle. But now I know more of what I want--someone I can actually talk with and relate to, not someone who falls over themselves embarrassingly in an effort to please me.

And I've been the one falling over embarrassingly to please some guy I was gaga over plenty of times. You live and learn.

Hmm, maybe that's what I should look for--someone falling over embarrasingly over me. I've never experience that toward me, actually.

Perhaps I should just call it George.

But I already had a horse called George by default because we couldn't come up with a name. I believe I've already told that story here once.

My little brother loves to name things Bob. For awhile, he thought it was the funniest thing in the world. Everything he named was named Bob.

The best, though, was when I was watching Titan A.E. with him. A forgetable animated feature, but at the end when they create a new earth, the main guy insists on naming it Bob. That got my little brother's attention. And there's this one scene where they show a wide shot of the new planet, and it says something like, "Earth 2 (aka The Planet Bob)."

My brother and I got a kick out of that.

You know, now that I think about it, perhaps George might be the perfect name. I'll try to find the story for you, Chimera, and link it.

Ah yes, it was before your time, Chimera. It was when MsFish had a similarly-named thread, Name that Fish.

All that matters is that the name means something to you.

Though I'm still pulling for Throckmorton. I mean, it's just so much fun to say! Now say it with me, everyone: Throckmorton!

Perhaps it can be George Throckmorton, with Throckmorton being its surname. Or Throckmorton, aka George.

All you need to do now is get a bottle of Martinellis and break it over George Throckmorton as you declare his name, like they do for ships.

But don't break a headlight or anything.
