Title: To the new overlord...
Post by: guitarbabe on January 30, 2006, 11:29:45 PM
Hi Eric,

Do I get to be the first...well, the second to the first to post here? Man, you've got tons of bio info. You put me to shame. You realize, of course, that we'll look to your expertise now. I hope you're ready...cause I'm not! 8)

I don't feel like an overlord.  I feel like more of an underling, especially when compared to people who have actually sold novels.

But I guess I do have at least some expertise when it comes to short stories, and I'll be happy to share what I've learned about writing them.

My problem is wrapping up the ending all neat and tidy. My inner-self wants to drag it out (hence most of my stories are novels), but I need to end it somehow in a way that's satisfying, but brief. Any pointers?

I'd welcome some pointers on this too--my endings are awful.

Your sentence is conspicuously lacking a verb, and, as of right now, is suspected of being encoded. It's clearly not regular english. So, if it is, in fact, code, then that would make you a spy. And, around here, we have ninja monkeys for our spies. Ninja monkeys don't like competition. They are also very good at making sure that your remains are hidden so that they will never be found. Just something to think about.

usually I can at least piece together what the person is *trying* to talk about, even if their words don't make any sense. BUt I can't think, no matter how I try, why this person would respond this way to this particular thread. "newness?" The last post on the thread was 2 months ago. Is this person a friend of Eric's? If so, Eric probably needs to have a talk to him about taking his Ritalin.

As we used to say in the Army, "Spy at the Hatch!"

*followed by the sound of paper shredding and a hail of bullets.

I have no clue what this message was about, nor any knowledge of who DragonFire2k5 is.

Of course, that's exactly what I would say if it was a coded message from my handler.
