Well at least take a camera, stacer.
And since Belle was kind enough to ask "What kind of name is Tage?" I looked around for an answer. Originally (meaning, when I was 16) I looked up the name in a scandinavian history book, but until today I'd forgotten who he was, exactly. Well, here you go:
from
http://www.algonet.se/~sylve_a/e_tronas.htmTage Thott was in 1562 inherited by his sons Anders, who didn't leave any children behind him, and Otte, who in his marriage with Sophie Brahe had a son, Tage Thott. This son inherited the estate in 1588. He was in 1603 made court nobleman and was then feoffor at Laholm, Sölvesborg, Landskrona and finally Malmöhus. In his military career he advanced to cavalry captain and distinguished himself by succesfully defending Malmöhus Castle during the war of Horn in 1643. He was appointed to counsel of realm and was one of few noblemen who in 1657 opposed the declaration of war towards Sweden. Through inheritance, marriage and purchase Tage Thott came into possession of several major estates, among others Ericsholm, Skabersjö, Barsebäck, Värpinge, Bjersjöholm and Herrestad, and was called "The Scanian King" because of his wealth and power. Despite this he was a pretty simple country gentleman and was on a good footing with the lower Estates. He is also supposed to have been literary intrerested and gave the poet Vitus Bering free board and lodging at Skabersjö. Tage Ottesen Thott died in 1658, a few days before Skåne was ceded to Sweden, and was buried at St. Peter's church in Malmö.
I got the name from Tage Ottesen Thott. Perceptive readers may have noticed his mother's name. There's some interesting info on her here:
http://www.landskrona.se/kultur/tychobrahe02/sis.htmlSophie Brahe was born in 1556 at Knutstorp. When she was 17 years old, she became Tycho's assistant and helped him with observations during a lunar eclipse. In 1577, she married Otto Thott of Eriksholm, the present Trolleholm. After 11 years of marriage, Otto Thott died, and afterwards Sophie managed the estate and raised their son, Tage Ottesen Thott. She visited her brother on the island of Hven 5-6 times a year, and might stay at Uraniborg for several weeks at a time. Tycho regarded her as his colleague and called her his "learned sister". She provided him with someone to have an intelligent conversation with.
Now that I didn't know. Having found this out, from now on I shall refer to Tycho from Penny Arcade as "Uncle Tycho."
