I'm pumped for Warbreaker.  Well, and the second half of MB2 and for MB3, since I haven't gotten that far yet, haha.

I may have come here because of WoT, but as I said in a previous post, I've actually become more excited about continuing my readings of Mr. Sanderson's works than the idea of AMoL (not that I love WoT any less than I did before).  Anyways, I plan on catching up on the worlds of EUOL, then I'd love to find some great theory discussions to jump in on with all of you!

Right, because of freezing to death from a freak blizzard. In hell.

Agreed.

You know, I only learned of Mr. Sanderson because he was selected to finish WoT, but after starting to read some of his stuff, I'm more excited to see more of his original works than AMoL.  Not that I'm less of a WoT fan after reading Mistborn, but because his stuff is very creative and twisty, but with plenty of realism in it.  I read Mistborn and felt that that world could be, and now that I'm reading Mistborn 2, it just keeps building.

So while I calmly wait for Tarmon Gaidon, I anxiously await the next step in his career beyond WoT...

Twaslin Marlow, former gleeman from Andor turned Asha'man loyal to Rand.  He's young by gleeman standards, so he's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder.  Somehow, he thinks things will go back to 'normal' after Tarmon Gaidon, so he doesn't think too much about the future, just about 'heroics' and making a show out of his strength (probably moderate at best).  He's loyal to Rand because he hopes that he can be the official court bard for one of his supporters after the last battle (or for Rand himself, should he survive, but he most likely believes Rand is as good as dead, as most seem to with regards to prophecy)... and because being on the side of the Light would make a better story for after "we lock the Dark One back in his hole for good."

Anyone want to toss me a few thousand dollars so I can submit this idea?  Hehehe...

Well that, plus the fans would crucify him...not that its his decision anyway.

Well, he'd have the choice to turn it down.

Now that Brandon is writing A Memory of Light, I was wondering which of those groups people liked best and why. I think it'd be interesting to see how the groups stack up against each other.
WoT is incredibly epic and very interesting but if I had my way, I'd have Sanderson not just write Memory of Light but re-write the entire WoT series.

Hands down the most absurd thing I have ever read on these boards. I love Sanderson's work but seriously?...Gaaah...The more I think on this the more obscene it becomes!!!

I somehow doubt he would care to do that.  I think being approached to write the final installment of WoT would be a great experience, but as an author with plenty of his own fresh ideas and active imagination, being asked to put a halt to his own works and rewrite something as long as WoT would in fact be a burden.

I picked Wolfbrother, not because they're the strongest or the most skilled, but because Perrin and Elyas are two of my favorite WoT characters.

From a writing/author point of view, I say all bets are off.  The book will be sent to publish when Harriet says it will and will actually be released as soon as physically possible after that.  Not a moment sooner.  As far as titles go... again, it really is Harriet's call.  Who knows what Robert Jordan would have wanted better than her?

We'll see.  Whether it is sooner or later does not concern me.  I want it done RIGHT, even if that means slowly.

Very solid work for only 5 hours!  I have paintings from class in high school that I spent literally 4 times that length of time on and they came out far, far worse (and sadly, this was before Mistborn or even Wheel of Time came into my life, so none of them came from those works).

no offence or anything.... but most societies have these rules in them. when it comes to magic and the like, these rules always seem to be what separates good from bad(unless your Jedi then its a red lightsabar =p). i wish i could think of some other place they show up, but my mind fails me.

Ah, but you're not thinking very historically here.  Given the span of human existence, the ban on slavery is quite young (and not even true for all places on Earth).  Murder/killing are defined in so many different ways that it is often hard to distinguish one from the other.  For instance, is killing in self defense murder?  How about in war?  Or, in certain parts of the world, how about killing someone of a lower class/caste than yourself?  Even torture is defined in such a way that objectively pegging down what is and is not torture is difficult.  Dick Cheney swore that waterboarding wasn't real torture, but it sounded like it to many.

I'm not saying you didn't have a point.  You did.  We look for certain indications in our stories to distinguish heroes from villains.  But that doesn't make Roberts's first post any less interesting either.  Then again, I'm a big fan of learning about the different archetypes in literature, so I can look for ways to twist them/apply them.

*sigh* If only I were not a student in his final undergrad year...

I'll try and get my buddies over in the physics and engineering department to finish up on that space-time compression business to see if I can make it to the con... if not... NEXT YEAR!
I also wish I could go.

Majoring in quantum physics? lol

Nope, I'm a history major, haha.  I just have several friends in physics/engineering, since that's mostly what my university does.

Great find there, CM.  I'll have to read through that more when I've got time.

And that reminds me of a jewel I found about a year ago... if I can find it again...

Ah, well, it looks like it's gone now.  I had found a fan-made audio play of the first prologue, and it was amazing.  However, it's no longer hosted from where I had found it.

Lame.  I'll see if I can find it again somewhere else and share.

Ask yourselves if it's really worth getting worked up over this.

Then take a deep breath.  Then resume the real topic.

Just, you know... trying to keep the peace.

Ummm how do you know this stuff??  ??? :o ???

I dont "know it" - but Brandon has given us alot of info. If timeframes hold water, we could see a book around late July. It would be a stretch, but could be done. More than likely, October though... cross your fingers.

Aye, I'm thinking the original estimate of this fall as the earliest for anything is probably going to hold true.  And that's only if they do decide to split the book.
