It doesn't matter how big of a part "Adrienne" has in this set of novels is enough to put me on a natural high all day long!  Maybe even all week!

If so, many congratulations!

Isn't the Black Tower more a metaphorical tower... not a physical construct?  I thought it was named such because it was created as a counterpoint to the White Tower, not because there was an actual tower where the Asha'man were training.

I know there was a topic about this once upon a time, but after I didn't see it in the first few pages, I thought I'd create a new one.  Necro-posting is bad, after all.

I've found a few songs that remind me of particular scenes of Sanderson books (all of them, in my case, are Mistborn related, but I think that speaks more to my music tastes than anything else).  So here's what we do... we list the book, the song, and then the scene the song reminds us of (or not, if it's just the book or characters in general).

The most glaring one for me is: (SPOILERS!  READ NO FURTHER IF YOU HAVE NOT READ MISTBORN 3!)

Mistborn: Hero of Ages, Welcome to the End by Celldweller - the scene this reminds me of is the end, when Vin is confronting Ruin, the atium Mistings are losing, and Elend is dying at the hands of Marsh.  Song link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOFoyf59X-g

Mistborn: The Final Empire, Distraction by Apocalyptica - Kelsier's fight with the Inquisitor near the end.  Song link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOVAExuB7tk

I had others, but I'm out at the moment.

Post yours!

Oddly enough, Vienna Teng's Feather Moon always makes me think of the Mistborn books in general - later in the series especially. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q17wgj7fZgI

The actual title for Book 13 is Towers of Midnight. I like this title a lot. If you consider this a trilogy, it has a nice dynamic: The Gathering Storm-setup, Towers of Midnight-evokes darkness, and A Memory of Light-evokes light. Very cool.

Got a source for that info?  That is indeed a very nice title, assuming it actually has anything to do with the story, haha.

Maybe we'd be better off with an online petition to have him release this draft of WoK on his site.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Sanderon's WOT without reading the series?
« on: July 07, 2009, 03:11:05 AM »
I agree Publius75, it's the waiting for the next book that really hurts the books. When I first read the later books, after having to wait 2-3 years I really didn't care about the minor characters, I saw them as keeping me away from the characters I DID want to read. Now with that waiting out of the equation it IS alot easier to appreciate books 8-10.

There are no minor characters in WoT, just people that readers pay less attention to.

I don't know about shirts, but I would totally spend a stupid amount of money on a Nightblood replica.
If you can find enough people like you, your wish may be granted. (No, this is not an idle comment.)

I've found a few friends that wanted one after I described it's awesomeness.  Sadly, they have yet to read Warbreaker, but I have every intention of fixing that...

Solid gold!  I'd buy it.

I thought of one or two:
"I sold my Breath for this shirt"

and then a more expensive and perhaps quite difficult one to manufacture would be one that changed colors depending on the angle/lighting it was viewed at that said something like "50 Breathes, Baby!"

Warbreaker was beautifully written, his characters pop, the magic system was cool and innovative, and it was indeed not as gloom-and-doom as Mistborn.  It is, construction-wise, his best book yet.  However, I like the story and characters in the Mistborn trilogy more.  I'm very glad I started reading Mr. Sanderson's works... he's won me over as a life-time reader.

It seems to me that he's not writing more females than males... it's just that the cliche in most mass-media is that we get a strong, handsome, young male from a back-water town that turns into a mighty hero...  Mr. Sanderson does a lot to break cliches, so it appears that he makes it a point to give us both a heroic male and heroic female character in each book that are equally awesome, but since we are trained to see male heroes, the female ones really stand out.

I mean, let's just face it... Vin is one of the coolest characters out there.

Don't forget that at the end, Vasher explains that the Returned can manipulate their physical appearance based on their own perception of how they should look, and that with careful, guided thought, can take control of that process.  It seems logical to me that that mechanism could be extended to BioChromatic 'appearance' with the aura, or the lack of an aura, if that was what one wanted.
