Title: A scam?
Post by: EUOL on December 13, 2003, 03:30:20 PM
So, I assume this is a Kazaa version.

http://k-lite-legal.com/

My question is, how can they even claim it to be legal?  Are they going with the 'members buy in, so they're part of a club that shares' loophole (which is what the edited video clubs did to get around copyright?)  Anyway, seems highly suspect to me.  Just curious what those of you who know more about this sort of thing have to add.

I heard a 12-year-old girl was prosecuted with the first round of Kazaa suits, and she used Kazaa Lite. She assumed it was legal because she paid for membership. I don't know if there's any difference between Kazaa Lite and Kazaa Lite-legal, but the girl did get a hefty fine, despite thinking it was legal.

The same kind that you get by taking things from small children just because you're bigger than them.

I think they were fining her parents on behalf of her. I don't remember exactly the amount, but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of several thousand dollars.

Maybe she can work it off by babysitting the childish ninnies in the legal department who want to sue twelve year olds.

Now that's a warm and fuzzy feeling.

I'll have to hold onto that, at least until the next time I get set on fire.

I think being set on fire would make you feel warm and fuzzy , only moreso.

warm for maybe two tenths of a second before it gets amazingly hot.

But I'm trying not to think about that.

**Kije concentrates on the warm, fuzzy, unfirey feeling**
