Its not the cost, its the jokes I have to deal with from female friends I'll be meeting there.
I will hear at least one joke along the lines of "is that a roll of quarters in your pocket or are you happy to see me".  And it will be told specifically to make me blush.
Its not like anyone from timewasters would do that, but I'm meeting up with some friends I havn't seen in a couple of years.

Jokes for doing your laundry?  Erm...I suspect the jokes for NOT doing your laundry and walking around as 'stinko' for the con would be worse.  :)  Women appreciate a man that does laundry.

Man? Am I missing something?  I'm not a RM (Real Man) yet, nor will I be for about four years.

Um, on the food thing, did anyone mention the con suite?  You can nearly subsist for free at these things if you eat there.

Nearly subsist for free.  Close, but not quite.  Its worth it to me to have a food stash in my room for several reasons.  After all, am I not the bagel pimp :P

Mmmmm..... Nutella.  Is there anywhere you can buy that by the gallon?

On another note, the list of things for people who haven't been to a con before would be good.

I spent a couple hours googling and cam up with this:
http://www.locksley.com/neofans/mainpage.htm?
and this:
http://www.neoengel.com/con_rules.html
they seem pretty complete.  Any additions would be appreciated.
Warning: the fist list is not for those with slow web connections.  Try the second one, its more dialup friendly.

You know, if I had a lot of free time, a lot of money, and a lot of mechanics at my disposal, I'd show up to one of these in an AT-AT.  I bet you'd really pick up the chicks in one of those.

lol. You know, I'd definitely go for a ride with you in one of those... provided you let my wookie chaperone come with, of course. ;)

See, that's just a fancy painted car.  Cool, yes.  But I'm talking hydrolics (sp?), full scale, that sort of thing.  Working duel head cannons.

wouldn't it make more sense to get a vehicle without the terrible sense of balance?

See, that's one thing you have to understand about every Crazy Galactic Empire.  They may not be practical, but man do they have style.  It's pretty much a requirement.

It's pretty much why they always lose, too
Imagine if AT-ATs had a more circular or square shape, and an additional set of legs. They'd look more creepy, AND they'd be resistant to getting destroyed because of a stupid grappling gun on a snow speeder.
