vegan doughnuts don't have things like egg or milk in them (which is good for Old_one because she's allergic to such things).

Well I'm cooking dinner tonight for a family in our ward.  The wife's on bedrest for the last month of her pregnancy and apparently it's hard to cook for a family of 6 on bedrest.

So I'm actually cooking for once.  Stuffed pasta shells and meatballs!  Nummy!

apparently. I'm of a mind that it's hard to cook for a family of 6. y'know, at all. Five is about what I'll take.

I did that a lot in high school--cook for a family of six. I'd say it's easier than cooking for one, because you use just slightly more stuff, but don't have to eat it for a week.

It really is.  Which is why I'm taking the opportunity to actually cook something, because it's fun, and I tend to only get to actually cook on Thanksgiving.

Meatloaf!  Or rather, it's baking.  We'll see if the husband eats it.

some fried rice from a recipe I made up. I think I burned the garlic. Which makes it rather pungeunt. *shrug*. It's still edible though. I shall have to actually follow a recipe some time instead of reading one recipe once and then deciding I know the basics and can make it up as I go.

I've been having such trouble eating lately because of all this stuff going on with my teeth. It's especially hard to eat breakfast, because my jaw is sore from clenching it all night as I sleep, with a new bite because of the new fillings that don't seem to be quite right. So all this whole-grain bread for my lunch I've had lately has been hard to chew.  :( So it's lunchtime and I didn't bring anything from home (too hard to eat) and I don't want to buy anything... How annoying.

My mom sent us a box of Jones' brand salt and vinegar potato chips.  Made in good old Mansfield Ohio, you can't buy them out here.  Much to my dismay since they are the BEST potato chips in existance.

It's feeling like spring here, so I decided to get the last of my winter baking out of my system.

I made an oil-based crust with a touch of vanilla extract, and made a pumpkin pie and peach cobbler.

The cobbler turned out a little too tart--I should have put some Splenda in both the peach mixture and the crust. But the pie turned out wonderful. So much so that my three-year-old discovered that it was finger-lickin' good. I'm ignoring the small lines in the pumpkin from his tasting.

Of course, all this was vegan.

I've discovered that sweet potatoes baked in the microwave for about 7 minutes (wrapped in plastic wrap) make a great lunch.
