I wonder how closely mistwraiths and Kandra are related. Mistwraiths could just be baby Kandra.

In Final Empire, Chapter 35 (page 488 in hardback)
Quote
"A kandra," the creature said, its skin losing its transparency. "A mistwraith that has . . . grown up, you might say."
Sort of, anyway. Maybe there's a process by which they become more intelligent.

I don't believe I remember that particular annotation. I would love to read it if you could dig it out, though.

Mistborn: The Final Empire, Prologue part two:
Quote
It's all just part of the image I'm trying to create--a place that isn't set in any particular time. In fact, it's a little bit frozen in time, as you'll find in later books.
That's where I got it from.

What if elmandr1's not half wrong?

The details of the Mist Spirit, the earring getting in the way of drawing on the mists in WOA, which brings up another annotation quote: (Mistborn: The Final Empire, Chapter 38 part 3)

Quote
I wasn't planning on having Vin draw upon the mists in this book--I was going to save it for later--but the initial version of this chapter (which had Vin simply grabbing the bracelets off the Lord Ruler's arms with her hands) lacked the proper drama or impact. So, I moved up my timetable, and gave her access to some abilities she wasn't going to get until the next book.

It's a good theory. Doesn't explain everything, but it's definitely something to consider.

You know what because I like both of you and Chaos has a follower I think I'll throw my lot in with Andrew. I mean how could he not be the HoA with a name that ends in The Great. Plus Chaos gets fell points and thats not sweet.

Aren't Fell Points a good thing to get?

In the Bump we see that in a moment the ability to change the world was known, what if this is what TLR did? He moved the earth, changed the World, this was the Power of Ruin,  Then TLR did what he could to preserve the world, create the Ash Mounts to have ash coat the sky and block out the sun, and all the other things and  theories of what he changed or was doing, was it to hold back the Ruin that was unleashed in that first moment of holding the power, and then Preserve what was left?
What if it now continues forward in Ruin?  was TLR holding it back? will the Ash Mounts stop or slow?

I think he did all that changing, yeah. Read Final Empire Prime; that's what I think TLR did.

But without spiraling into another endless discussion about which power he touched,  :P I just want to say that the jacket cover says that the Ashmounts are getting more active, and not less. Earthquakes and all that.

I like the idea that they were changed from something else.

But I can't say they're "of Preservation" just because they say so. You could say the Humans are of Ruin, but a lot of them serve Preservation instead. I think you definitely could say Inquisitors are of Ruin, though. Whether they want to be is another question. The biggest keys to humans being of Ruin are Hemalurgy and Allomancy, because both are destructive (though Allomancy isn't, necessarily) but Feruchemy, which is a human power, is definitely more preservation like than Ruin. Even if Ruin can mess with it some.

Two things...
LMAO... that was awesome.

Actually, I think it's likely that these particular koloss could be controlled by Ruin in some manner.

I think the Koloss referred to are controlled by the Inquisitors, who are being controlled by Ruin, so yeah. They did use a bunch of Koloss to take out the Terris lands...

It's about that time to name a new theory for tomorrow, T-28 days until MB3. Today, I have a theory I would like to suggest for tomorrow. I apologize if you had a different idea, but I felt this one needed to be said.

I have a quote from darxbane from the HoA Chapter Two topic:

Yes.  Imagine if TLR's death is causing the world to slowly return to it's original location?  If everything he did was slowly unraveling?  I have never looked forward to October like I have this year.

And so, tomorrow's conversation topic:

What if, after the Lord Ruler's death, the things he did as he held the power slowly changed back to the way it was previously?

Brandon does mention in one of his annotations (can't remember where, too tired to look it up now) that the world is kind of frozen in time. Like it was on the brink of destruction and something TLR did (was doing) kept that from happening. Controlling Ruin?

Still, it would be nice to have a reference for the nail bit.

I imagine Ten Soon had to eat Oreseur. Eww. But that's the only way I could think of a kandra killing another kandra without the mess of Acid.

What do you think the LR could have been doing by just being alive to save mankind?

My theory is that it could be like Final Empire Prime, where he connected to one of the powers and controlled it (Ruin) thus preventing it from destroying the world. But in FEP the two sides (effectively Ruin and Preservation) seemed much more connected to the magic system, of which there was only one  (with two sides, but the same), instead of three distinct yet connected ones. Still, food for thought.

Kandra kill each other when their master orders them too. Zane had TenSoon kill Oreseur so he could take his place. It's a safe guard in the contract, since people don't know how to kill Kandra.

Nobody said Rashek was power hungry. He may have thought that Alendi didn't deserve to be the Hero of Ages, but that doesn't mean he wanted the power, himself. So it could be him, shortly after he ascended, and knowing he's not the one everyone's expecting, or wanting, but he's the one who stopped the deepness.

I have a Shakespearean collection (one book) that's 1263 pages, but it doesn't even feel as durable (thinner pages, and I've had the binding break quickly on one of those). Like when they print Bibles; those pages rip easy.

I like the idea of the limit on how many they can control at once... Though I'm not sure how many that is. And charging them before they get into a blood rage is a really good idea, because if they're kept off guard, they may never get into one. Remember when Elend fights that one inside the Koloss camp, kills it, and gives a pointless explanation (he ate my horse)? They don't even care.

EUOL says it's from a nearly omniscient source.  I don't think that is from a document that is written.  I think it's coming from an actual person this time.

Where did he say that? I have vague memories to it, but can't think of where it should be.

Pygmalion is a play by George Bernard Shaw. My Fair Lady is based on that play. Henry Higgins, Eliza Doolittle and all that.
