I've got this stupid raster image that the Canadian office keeps wanting to put on to 10' banners. Obviously, resizing gets to be an issue
ANyone know a quick way to convert a 2-color line drawing into a vector image?

The only way I know how is to trace the original with paths in Illustrator.  The newest version of Illustrator has an autotrace path command that will take a line drawing and do its best to fit it with vector paths.  How complicated is the image?

There is also a filter in Flash that will convert bit map images to a vector image, sort of. It tends to lump everything into a bunch of little shapes. The end result also tends to have a large file size.

The image isn't terribly complicated. I'll dig around in my Illustrator CS and see if I can find that feature.

The Live Trace feature is new to Illustrator CS2.  Very cool when it works, but sometimes needs a little help to find the edges.

send it my way SE and I can do it in either flash or illustrator for you.

Or just flash, trace bitmap with color tolerance of 2 and many curves with a tight fit then once it's done you just optimize the vector and flash will clean it all up for you.  It would take all of 2 minutes to do.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

There's an auto-trace feature in CS. but it's fairly limited. I like how the new one is looking so far (about 1/3 done -- I get distracted easily), but I think Marketing is going to give birth to cattle that it's different in any way.

So, maybe I'll send it to Sprig. If it's really easy (I don't have Flash), otherwise, I'll have to earn my paycheck.
