I wonder if they're going to be like Blizzard and with each patch change a few numbers around.

Just on the subject of iPods; I saw the other day that after something like 1800 hours of use, the battery burns out.  At first apple was cheap, and was suggesting that the customers buy another iPod.  However, they have since become a little less cheap, instead offering a replacement battery for the all-time low price of...... $99.00

But yay for iTunes!

Went without a hitch.

And, Outkast, if you buy Apple's extended warranty for fifty bucks, they'll replace the battery for free when it goes out.

Hm, ok, I hadn't heard about that.  Apple is a little less cheap than I thought.

Heh.  Well, both of those things are--the $99 thing and the new extended warranty--methods of combating the bad PR they got over the  battery issue.  They acted quickly, you have to give them that.  However, I don't think it makes them less cheap.  They only did it because they had to.

Well then EUOL, you should read of Gaiman's account on updating his 40 GB iPod (which makes me jealous, he has a 40 GB iPod. I bet that makes you jealous too EUOL =P).

I had some trouble with my mini, but my wifes Ipod went fine,... the mini had to have filesharing turned off for the update, after which I turned fs back on and it went fine... I think its a problem of not having a dock for the mini, but who knows.... apple knows about it and they are fixin the code...
Remember the mini is only on v1.1 right now.

I like the 1 year warranty. And if you've seen the Ipod or the mini you know that its pretty hard to get open, for battery issues they effectivly just give you a brand new Ipod anyway ...so 99 bucks isnt horrific...

I like the idea of lossless encoding... no tinny sounding strings in my classical music, and fuller voices,... all thats going to come at the expense of memory of course but hey I'll just put 500 songs on my mini instead of 1000.

I dunno, whatever the reason: new technology, difficulty opening (which is STILL the manufacturer's fault, and possibly worse since it's planned), or whatever, $99 is still costly. Heck, $50 is expensive for a battery failure. It's still a downside, imo. One that can eventually be corrected, but hasnt' yet.
