A lot of people describe Scalzi’s Old Man's War novels as military science fiction, but I would classify its sequel Zoë’s Tale as a space opera. It’s a story about, well, Zoë, a teenage girl whose parents are invited to take leadership roles in building a colony on a new planet. Zoë is an enthusiastic member of the group sent to colonize Roanoke, despite the risks—and the risks are considerable even before the political machinations of greater powers boil to the surface. None ever did to me what Mistborn, Elantris and Warbreaker did, however. And now, I'm just a huge fan of Brandon. What's left for me to do, is try to convert my fellow Dutchies to fans as well. Noone's ever even heard of him! It's just a matter of time! I love that Brandon's younger than me and a prolific writer...just means that we'll be seeing a LOT more of him! (but never quite enough...*sigh*)
I think Allison Scagliotti is a little too... well, boy-ish, to play Siri. I imagine Siri more like the cute girl that's a little mean on the inside. A little like Mackenzie Rosman, maybe. You're right...she'd make a MUCH better Vin. I like the wit and the self-doubt that she brings (doesn't hurt that she's cute, either).
Allison Scagliotti would be an awesome Vin, though!
