So I went to the local bookstore with my sister today. I happen to know the manager. I happened to walk past the sci-fi section and they didn't have any copies of Warbreaker. I asked the manager and he said they didn't get any in and that it was probably on back order.
So he gets on the computer to look it up. The book he finds is How to Make Dinasaurs or something similar to that by Brandon Sanderson that was released Tuesday. ha ha.

Rofl. Guess he's branching out, eh?
That's strange that they didn't have any. I went to Barnes & Noble to get my copy after reading on his blog that they would have copies for sale opening week. It wasn't on any of the "new arrivals" displays in the front like I'd expected, it wasn't in "new fantasy".... it wasn't even with the rest of his books. It was on some random shelf labeled "new science fiction" that wasn't really part of the normal SciFi section. It was on the next row over. Weird. So you're not the only one who had issues finding it.
That's really funny about the dinosaur thing, though. I'd say it runs second to the fake Way of Kings listing on Amazon.

When I got my copy, it wasn't in the 'new releases section', but on the Fantasy shelf with the rest of the Sanderson books.
It was also the only copy they had out.

That is not surprising if you went to Walden in the Pocatello mall. Their selection usually sucks. Idaho Falls Barnes and Noble had about 150 copies when I bought mine on Tuesday.
Also one of the employees there said EUOL will be doing a signing there 20 June. Can anyone confirm this?? Ookla?

no, this would be the B&N in Evanston, IL :P
I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that there are no plans to do a signing here anytime soon?

Same thing happened to me (sorta...)! I ordered it from Borders.com (haven't received it yet) and when I ordered it, it said Warbreaker, but afterwards it said "How to make dinosaurs." The picture and the sku are correct, though, so here's hoping I get the right book. If not, I will be majorly sad.

I don't know if it would be considered too big a branch out after Alcatraz. 8)

Wow, I'm feeling a lot more kindly about my B&N. They had copies in the new arrivals section, the new sf&f section, and with Brandon's other books. Looks like they were actually on the ball with this one.

I assume the IF signing info is correct. I know Brandon was going up there soon. IF (or at least somewhere near IF, I forget) is one of the places that counts as "home" for Brandon, so he goes there periodically.

He will be there the 20th.

He will be there the 20th.
Wahoo!

I want to learn how to make dinosaurs! I also want to read the final version of Warbreaker...
This is going to be a hard decision.

I'll probably be at that signing. If only to get my paper backs signed and to chat with Brandon. We should try and be there near the same time. xD

Blast. This saddens me. The one weekend I'm going home this semester is the weekend Brandon's coming up here to do a signing. Argh...Just my luck. I guess I really will have to wait for the end of the year to get my book signed...

I will probably be there for a few hours. It depends on how cranky/bored my kids get.

I'll try to show up for a little bit too. I'm not sure what I'm doing that day, but if there's any way humanly possible for me to go (which there should be) then I will. The only thing I can think of is if my parents make me go with them to pick up my little sister from her dance clinic thingy. Yes. And I do have something in the morning, so I should be able to get out of going, so since the signing's in the afternoon. Yeah, I should be able to. When are you guys planning on going? Relative time frame here, since I don't even know when I'm going.
-
I can't really say when I will be there because EUOL hasn't said when he will be there yet. As soon as he says the time frame we can plan to meet up.

My wife secretly bought me Warbreaker for Father's Day. But I must say I am a little upset (ok, a lot). She bought the book at Barnes & Noble and had to pay full cover price. They didn't offer any discount like they do on many bestselling author's new works. Why does this make me angry???
1. This probably only curtails sales to those people who are thinking of picking up a Brandon Sanderson book but may not have a lot of disposable income.
2. I had to spend an extra $8.00 on a book that I won't get to read until probably after TGS comes out.

Yea, Illinois bookstores aren't too up to date on any of Brandon's books.
I went to Border's first and they said there copies weren't in yet and they were only getting 6.
Then I went to Barnes and Noble and they had them all with Brandon's other books. I was hoping for a convenient display. Maybe I'll build one and sneak it in there once I'm back in the country...

there's one thing that can fix that...
A visit from the big B.S. himself!
c'mon, Brandon: visit our city!
