That makes perfect sense.

Someone told me once that adding a tablespoon of peanut butter helps the beans keep their flavor.  I tried it, and it worked just fine, but the house reeked of peanut butter for days.  (Oddly enough, it didn't change the flavor.)
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier.

cooking the beans on their own is the only real way to "keep the flavor" beans tend to heavily influence foods, and are also very easy to influence taste wise.
So cook em seperate if you want them to taste good...
and for goodness sake throw a little fatback in with em...

Oops.  I meant to say that the peanut butter helps them keep their color.  Not flavor.

Like I said, it worked, but it's nothing I would do again -- a lot of stink for very little reason.

Chili is realy a great "Tinkering Recipie"
And a Bailout!

At one point I screwed up a beef stir-fry and just sayd "screw it"
Grabbed the Tomato sauce and Spices and turned it into a (slightly Oriental flavored) Chili in a Wok!

My Chili recipie is unrecordable bacause I have never made the same Chili twice,
I usualy start by pouring a glass of wine (mostly for me) and browning the meat with various spices and chopped onions (Some sliced chili peppers when I have them)

Then I start adding what seems prudednt, Some Tomato Sauce (Or Pure)
A bottle of Beer
Melinada's Habenyero sauce
Various amounts of cumin, Chili, Ceyene, etc (basicly, if you dont want it in your eyes, I have tried it in Chili)

The only downside is that I eat the whole pot myself as I have yet to figure out how to "Tone it down" enough for the Wife

I have never tried the Liquid smoke yet... I guess I'll have to make a newyears pot (Along with the required Kilbassa and SaurKraut)
Alles!!!

Careful with the liquid smoke mac. A little goes a long way.

And the answer the Sig question is "none if Stalin can send a few Million Georgians to stop it." ;)

You wouldnt happen to be a newlywed would you?

Today I was cooking chili and I went to blow my nose and all of a sudden there was crazy burning inside my nose. It kept getting worse and there was quite a bit of mucus flowing out of my nose. Then my eyes and cheeks started burning. I went to wash my face and eyes, but then my eyes burned even more. I couldn't keep them open and I couldn't keep them closed because it burned! I opened the window, and stuck my head out because it was snowing. After several minutes of agony my eyes stopped burning, but my nose and face still did. I thought I had an alergic reaction to something. I looked in the mirror and my whole face was red and my eyes were blood-shot and mucus dripping out of my nose. After about 45 minutes the burning sensation went away and my face returned to normal and I ate my chili. I think when I blew my nose I got some Jalapenio pepper in my eye or in my nose or somewhere where it wasn't supposed to go. That was my brave survival story for today.

Anyways, back to the topic. You want your chili to cook faster? Don't use meat. :) I'm a vegan.
