Brandon Sanderson / Re: MB1 plot question (Probable Spoilers)

"Lord Ruler" is just my attempt to use something more distinctive than the generic titles, like emperor.  However, it is intended to mean the same thing.  It's not really a double meaning; it's just a title.

Yes, and thank you.  Man, there are so many great fanart posts.  I really need to get a fanart section on my website up and running.

Very nice.  People often focus a lot on the mists, which is great--but I've wanted for some time to see some ashen sky pictures.  Thanks!

Yes indeed.  I'll repeat my opinion, though.  I'd love to see a video game made.

So, if anyone feels like passing any copies of my books on to your friendly neighborhood VG producer, kindly feel free to do so. ;)

Phaz,

From the spoilers section of the annotations (which are kind of hard to find, sorry about that.  Hopefully the new site will make some of this information more accessible.)

By the way, the reason the Lord Ruler's army attacked Renoux was not because they broke Marsh. It's because the Inquisitors--still tracking Vin--finally managed to trail her to House Renoux, and therefore to Valette Renoux. They hit the convoy, fully expecting her to be on it. When she wasn't, they devised their trap, knowing that Kelsier would come for his friends. They never even suspected that the team had managed to get a mole into the Ministry ranks.

On the second point, you got it exactly.  Kelsier left a wake of destruction at the pits that would have impressed any horror movie viewer.  He pretty much slaughtered every guard in the place, stole a bunch of atium, and inadvertently destroyed a bunch of the crystals.

Phaz,

For someone on the forum who wants signed books, just email me and we'll work out a way to get them to you.  Probably the best thing to do would be to have you mail us a check, if possible, then I'll grab a few books out of the box, sign them, and mail them off to you.  Better to do that than wait for the store.

I should be there.  I have been the last few years.

Last chance for this as I'm turning in the copyedit soon.

Luke, did we talk about Mistborn 3?  I'm trying to find your emails to me.  Could you email me with your address, so that I can search my huge inbox and find our correspondences?

You know, someone in one of my writing groups pointed this out.  Apparently, Straff means something too, which is curious.  Guess I did a good job of making those family names work together linguistically!

I wonder what they'll do when they translate it to German....

Newest versions of this:

They still haven't fixed the 'tongue' but there are some other interesting changes.

AWESOME!  What did you end up doing with it, revision wise?

Eric, you need another novel.  Something more...Scalzi-like, I think, to show off your versatility when sending out manuscripts.

Yeah, we like the concept of the Breath he was trying to portray, but it looks too much like a tongue.  It needs some kind of change.

Thanks, all, for the input so far.  This has been very useful. I'm waiting to see what our artist and or bookseller types have to say.

Also of note, we're probably changing this title to be

MYTHWALKER
Chronicles of the Warbreaker, Part One.

Having 'War' in the title just seemed to give the wrong impression.  Though, with this --Edit--COVER, it might not be as much a problem.

All right, well, we just got a Warbreaker concept sketch.  This is fairly early in the process, so we can (hopefully) actually have some influence on this one before it comes out.  However, I thought I'd show it to you all.  I'm interested in knowing what the people who have read the book will think of the cover, but I'm equally interested in hearing from those of you who haven't.  Would this make you pick up the novel?

Ha.  You didn't read THIS book, Ookla.  You read the one I wrote a few years back, true, but that one wasn't published by Tor in 2006.  Who knows what kind of wacky things ended up in the alternate dimension version that somehow made it into our Amazon system?  I say go ahead and write a review and write whatever you feel like.
