I think we chose AIM because not everyone wanted to connect to IRC. It's the easiest thing on the planet to start a new chat room on IRC. Easier than AIM, provided people are willing to use an IRC client.

If we did move to IRC I'd have to vote for an Undernet channel since I already have a presence there.

I'm all for it. I prefer it, but not to the poitn where I'd force someone to change who doesn't want to learn the medium. I mean, you still have to learn how to use the client, since you have to choose what network/server to join.

I'm fine with that; I just don't know how to do it. I used to know, but that was way back in the days before instant messengers and I've forgotten a lot. If you guys think it's a good thing, I'm willing to learn how to use it.

See that's why I offered to make a PHP client, it'll automaticaly connect to the IRC chat room and is easy to use.  It also dosent require anyone to download anything.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

I only like the idea of irc, not of any other type of chat. Reason being I use Trillian and have no irc to idel on, and so Trillian looks lonely with its single hollow grey circle in the corner.

Me too!!

Seriously though, I doubt IRC is that hard to learn. Count me in on the tutorial session tonight Saint.

irc is one of those things I didn't actually learn per se, I just figure out how to do whatever I need to whenever necessary. It really isn't hard if you have computer experience.

I'm a mIRC hold out. I let the little gray IRC circle remain empty, because I don't like the freeware trillian version's IRC interface. That's me personally. mIRC has a lot more options.

I, too, am an IRC nut. I use mIRC. Its the fun.

Undernet would be nice - i could go and hang out in the star wars clan i used to be part of, and taunt the anime freaks.

Its amazing how some of us are on IRC except we never really run across each other. Crazy little world.

That would be because i know of about 6 networks. Those networks each have about 60,000 people on them average, i guess.

So yeah, its not really that strange.

Well the network I'm on is, if I recall correctly, just a load of people flocking from the dal.net crash and thing. Poor old dal.net.

The other benefit of IRC is that people who have their PC's on 24/7 - like me and SE - can read comments left days before by looking at the logs. And the subject can be used for leaving messages.
