Aww, thanks... :)

You really want to hear about the trigger?  It's really ridiculous.  They usually are.

Okay.

*Fishy takes a deep breath

It usually all goes back to me being hard on myself.  So here's the progression this time.  Try not to be offended and hate me, okay?  I'm not saying any of this is true, but here's the progression of thought:

So I'm thinking, I never thought I was the kind of person to make friends online.  Not that there ought to be anything wrong with that, but there's a stigma, you know?

So then I'm thinking, it's a really dumb thing for me to be doing.  I mean, I don't even know you guys.  Why am I spending all this time chatting?  That can't be healthy.

So then I'm mad at myself because the idea of not hanging out here makes me want to cry.

So then I tell myself that I'm being ridiculous, because it really shouldn't be that big of a deal, and if it is, that means I'm being unhealthy about it.

So then I'm mad at myself for caring about you guys, because I don't know you in real life.

So then I'm mad at myself for being mad at myself for caring, because I ought to care about people, so I shouldn't beat myself up for it.

So then I'm mad at myself for thinking about this at all, because it shouldn't be a big deal in the first place, and I ought not to have even gotten to step one, and the fact that I'm thinking about this at all proves that I'm dramatic, neurotic, and dysfunctional.

So then I'm mad at myself for being dramatic, neurotic, and dysfunctional.

And now I'm going to be mad at myself for telling you all that I'm dramatic, neurotic, and dysfunctional.  The cycle never ends!  ARG!

And now I look at all this and realize how stupid it sounds and I'm mad at myself for being stupid.

Why do I DO this?  ARG.

Sorry.  I ought not to take this out on you guys.  You shouldn't have to deal with my psychosis.

Why would we be mad...

It doesnt sound stupid at all.

Let me ask you a question.

Is hanging out with us here having an effect on your life outside of here?
Has anyone other than you commented on your online friendships?

Keep in mind that I see web friendships in much the same light as pen pal relationships of 20 years ago, those relationships were common, and encouraged for many reasons. Its always nice to have friends you can say anything to because you dont know who they are in real life.

Why on earth would we be offended by that?  Hey, if it would make you feel any better, I could tell you all about my own psychoses.

I went through that particular one myself, I just did it from age 16-18, um... I but I don't remember coming to any terms of acceptance, though I think i did , so I can't give you advice, just empathy.

Ah I to think along those lines Fish. But I have to agree with Jeffe. You don't know us, but you know our <how do I put this> spirit? You see that we share a common kinship. I was always an outcast at school. I find that I can be the person I want to be by writing about it on forums like these, and then my natural personality asserts itself in real life to be the person I always was. Am I offended that you have these thoughts? Not in a million years. Sweetness you and the rest have touched each others lifes and offered encourgement and most imporantanly wasted time, and enjoyed it. Life is to short worrying about what others think. Just do what you know feels right, and what makes you happy (unless that invloves something illegal that could land you in jail. That would make us all sad). Being happy is all that is important in life. Granted we must make sacrafices to be happy sometimes, but the goal is to be happy. It makes life worth living.

Is Empathy a member on the boards?  ;)

I never went through that particular one, because I rarely form close friendships in real life. Call it a moving every 3 years defense mechanism. The internet has brought my relationships stability and normalcy, reinforced old bonds and allowed me to create new ones...
