Books / Re: What are you reading, part 3
« on: May 19, 2009, 09:18:37 PM »
I recently finished "I Am Not a Serial Killer" by our very own Fellfrosch. I loved it, and heartily recommend it to anyone who can handle the mortuary scenes. :)

Another recent read was "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" by Phillip K. Dick. It was very good as well, though I thought that it got a bit preachy at points. Despite minor annoyances, I would still rate it as one of the best books I've ever read.

I've just started "Dune" by Frank Herbert. We will see how I like it. So far it seems a little cliched, but well written. Maybe it wasn't cliched when it was released, as the case is with LotR. I don't know my SF history very well. :P

True story. Most singles aren't hardly worth the money, but this one was well worth it.

I think we are approaching the 50% pun threshold. Nobody trip on it, it's bad luck.

Are you saying that you aren't typing with boxing gloves on? Ridiculous!

(To recycle an ancient pun...) I found your post humerus, darx. Maybe even proximally humerus.

Operator:  "Okay.  First, make sure he's dead…"
I am pretty sure that he dialed the wrong number. Perhaps he was speaking to a mafia operator.

Random sidenote/question: Has anyone here tried dialing "666"? It goes through (in the US), so I'm guessing it's the CIA. ;) This mystery has long plagued me, and I am too chicken to just call and ask who it is in case it's some sort of emergency number/puts you on a hit list.

Now for something completely different:
Mermaid friend who is a girl comforting her friend who is also a girl: Mermen are all sons of fishes.

I don't know. It's not even remotely funny to me either.

I was getting jealous of miyabi's celebration thread (which is awesome, BTW), and I wanted to put this lame pun I made up somewhere when I saw that this here Rants section specifically allows telling stupid jokes. Thank Jark I didn't have to go anywhere else to post. The interwebs are scary. The pun/joke/non-sequitur thingy:

I'm doing my dissertation on humor. In it I prove that there are two kinds of humor: funny and not funny. This statement is the ladder.

I've used it offline to evade telling people what I'm actually doing in college, but nobody got it and/or thought it was funny. I think it works better as a written joke, plus people tend to believe whatever I say, so I hope that it gets a better (or at least more extreme) reaction here.

I made the poll so you can change your answers! Just in case, I guess!

Everybody else, post the puns! This thread is'pun! (Woo! Triple wordplay pun! Raise your hand if you got it!)

What's this? / Re: Something new

I have now seen this thread. Three times, all in the last fifteen minutes.

I do agree though. I haven't RPed for about 8 years now (unless Munchkin and various pooter games count), and being minus a life I'd love to get back into it.

Haha! Resurrect thread spell: CAST!

This game was one of my childhood mainstays. My dad bought a CD called Galaxy of Games (now turned into a series, apparently), and CotW 1 was on it. I was always disappointed that the sequel wasn't on the CD too, but a few years ago I downloaded both and was kinda disappointed over how short it was.

ZangbandTK was the game that replaced this for me, and is still installed on my portable HD. :) It was a bugger to find after my parents' computer died, so if you are looking for it, I will gladly help a brother (or sister) out and send it to you. It has graphical packs, of course. I would die without them.

Back to CotW.... Wasn't the best weapon in the game a morning star? I remember stacking chests inside each other, or placing extras in my belt slot (maybe it was a hand slot...). To bad you couldn't stack infinitely, but you could go pretty far by using the brown ones on the outside and the blue inside. Maybe I'm totally remembering wrong. Dang, looks like I'm going to have to download this game again and see what's up.

But don't the spikes have to kill the person for it to work? Otherwise they're just a person with magical spikes stuck in them, like Vin. Maybe I am wrong :P.

Reading Excuses / WrEx Season 1 DL
« on: May 02, 2009, 06:51:50 AM »
Hello all, I checked with the WE team to make sure this upload was alright and got the go-ahead from Dan himself.

I have created a complete re-tagged and replaygained Season 1 torrent and uploaded it to thepiratebay.org. This download is for all of you who started listening to WE after S1 and are too lazy to go into the archives and download the episodes individually. Or, if you are like me, you could need to re-DL the first season because you deleted it for whatever reason, changed computers or PMPs, etc.

Umm... Buy the CD. It's only $14 shipped and has 110MB of bonus content. Besides, it's the only way I know of to support all three of our favorite authors.
