We'll just have to accept it, people--we've been mainstreamed. No use fighting. In my current creative writing class, there are six people writing fantasy--and two of them are actually female!

The EUOLogy about the con should be #5, since the nice book review was #4.

Actually, the review wasn't a EUOLogy.  There was a little confusion about that with the administration, but things are all worked out now.

We did it this way just to confuse you.

EDIT: But you probably ought to fix the main page.

Wow, those anime cosplays are really something. And thank you, EUOL, for the link to the ATHF ones. I loved them.

Actually?

Women have been involved in the fantasy genre for a long time, especially fantasy for children. Granted, there are a whole lot more men writing it for adults. But it is my mission in life to point out that children's literature is just as valid.

Okay, I know it's a minor point in a tongue in cheek piece, but still.

Hear, hear!
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

Indeed they have been involved from the beginning.  In fact, Dave always claimed that there were more women readers of fantasy than men.

However, it seems that fantasy--like SF, gaming, and RPGing--has been regulated to the arena of 'male geekdom' by our culture.  I think many women are more closet-geeks, and the fact that two women in a very small class were willing to admit to the class that they write it seemed like an interesting point to me.

Of course, one of them has decided not to do fantasy for this particular class....

(Nothing wrong with that, I suppose, Ms. Fish.)
