Well, it turns out some parts of Nebraska got about 19 feet of snow recently. I heard of that in the paper yesterday. And right now, Buffalo is getting snowed.

My folks, who live in Lincoln, NE, said they have received several feet, but that was after the storms had dumped a majority of their precipitation on the western part of the state.  They didn't have any specifics as to the depth the last time I talked with them, but 19 feet is quite a bit for anywhere in Nebraska.

Here in KC, MO we have had ice storms (rain that freezes so fast it forms ice on whatever it lands on).  Not much in the way of snow though.  Our forecast for the next few days is supposed to be 30's today, 40's tomorrow through Friday, and then a high of 15 for the weekend of the 15th of Jan.

It's been freezing and very windy here, but apparently thats due to the gulf stream being knocked silly by the Tsunami.

We're supposed to get a huge snowstorm here, too, a carryover from all the rain that's been happening in California.

Umm...what is up with cheesegrater?

Today's weather was actually very nice, after our torrential rains of the last week.

Yeah, I think a lot of the states are getting hammered pretty good with snow/rain.  This one city south of Salt Lake got 5 feet in just a few days.  Southern Utah is too warm for snow, so its just been raining.  A bunch of dams started overflowing and flooding out houses.  There was even this one town north of Saint George that got completely surrounded in water.

We've had a drought down here for the last 6 years, guess that's over.

Ookla, my husband works near you, Santa Monica. Took him 4 hours to get into work on Monday due to a variety of closed and washed out freeways.

Here in Nebraska City, NE about 40 miles east of Lincoln, we had the nasty ice storms that gave us about a half inch of ice, then it decided to snow which gave us between 8 to 12 inches, and then decided it was time to give us another 1/4 inch of freezing rain, all the while it was a nice blustery 25F outside.

Ookla: Yeah. I grew up in Orange County, and then we moved to Ventura County in May when my husband got a job  and graduated. Steve lost his job in December, and is now working in a contract position for SchoolLink in Santa Monica.

Karen lives in Huntington Beach, but we're planning on living in Torrance/Carson because it's halfway between our workplaces (she works in Newport Beach).

I grew up in Orange, which is right next door to Aneheim. My parents still live there and it's nice to be close enough to visit once a month.

Do your parents babysit, too?
All of my immediate family still lives in OC, but my brothers aren't interested in babysitting--except to loan me their Game Cube.

After the second snowday it warmed up pretty well and all the snow melted, then iit rained, became cold, snowed, froze.. became really cold.. and is supposed to drop another 10 degree's.

They do babysit occassionally. But it's an hour and a half drive between us in good traffic (not exactly a common daily occurance in So Ca), so it doesn't happen very often.
