A lot of people describe Scalzi’s Old Man's War novels as military science fiction, but I would classify its sequel Zoë’s Tale as a space opera. It’s a story about, well, Zoë, a teenage girl whose parents are invited to take leadership roles in building a colony on a new planet. Zoë is an enthusiastic member of the group sent to colonize Roanoke, despite the risks—and the risks are considerable even before the political machinations of greater powers boil to the surface. Yeah yeah. I'm on vacation!!! Maybe I'll put it up tomorrow.
I'm not sure where you guys assumed you have to be touching skin in order to Leech.
Man, I hope people like this book. It's less than 3 weeks away, and I'm starting to get anxious. So far most of the early reviews I've seen have been good, but there have been a few interesting so-so reviews.
The thing tha weakens leaching is that you have to touch the guy, an touching your oponent in a fight isn't actually that easy....
Thanks everyone, I've pieced together a conclusion that I can live based on what you all said
Still not overly convinced by those Leechers though, might make for some very dull fight sequences! Hopefully it'll be watered down to reduce the effect of metals instead of remove them entirely? Here's hoping
Cheers for the books Brandon, in case you ever see this!
Don't forget that not all the metals are used for fighting. There could be very innovative ways of being a Leecher without it being in a fight. If it's part of a crew like we had in the first trilogy, I imagine they will be specialized for a certain task just like Breeze or Spook was.
WASP = White Anglo Saxon PROTESTANT.
My point was Hello Kitty has nothing to do with WASP, because it's Japanese.
Yeah, I don't have eidetic memory like Shallan (sadly), but I try my best.
There's a good bit of visual concept work that I did for Brandon early on which will probably never see wide release until someone gets around to assembling an Art Of book, which I should think will be a few years down the line. Though if you can make it to Dragon*Con you might be able to get a glimpse or three.
One thing that perplexes me is that Atium is the wild card, it can steal any other power or attribute stolen by Hemalurgy. So what do the Atium alloys steal?
