I hope Doctor Who didn't get a bunch of writers who think that Doctor Who isn't hip anymore, so they are trying to update it be being snide and cynical about the old show (in other words "post-modern").

They don't seem to be cynical about the old show.  It seems to be more of a feeling thatif they try to duplicate the feel exactly people will laugh at it.  So they're trying to get people to laugh *with* it.  Like the school class clown.  I dunno.  It's just enough to kind of get to me.

The leather doesn't bother me, though I do miss the tacky clothes.  The ADHD is what gets to me from time to time.
