A lot of people describe Scalzi’s Old Man's War novels as military science fiction, but I would classify its sequel Zoë’s Tale as a space opera. It’s a story about, well, Zoë, a teenage girl whose parents are invited to take leadership roles in building a colony on a new planet. Zoë is an enthusiastic member of the group sent to colonize Roanoke, despite the risks—and the risks are considerable even before the political machinations of greater powers boil to the surface. I prefer a nice 70-73 degrees, myself. I'd be more on the cold side, except the blood vessels in my fingers stop working in the cold (literally--the tips of my fingers turn bright white! I'm hoping my fingertips don't fall off one day...). This is why Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons. One's cold with a hint of warmth, and the other's warm with a delicious hint of cold. Very nice.

I take dance classes because they are a blast. I do folk dance and ballroom dancing, and compete in ballroom dancing.
I'm pretty good at it, and it relaxes me. It's also a very nice workout.

A vita is a resume for academic-type people. It lists their publications, their conference addresses, any awards they've won, whether for research or teaching, etc.
