Tales from the Slush Pile
« on: January 12, 2006, 03:45:17 PM »
I didn't know whether to put this under writing group or books, so I'm putting it here. Anyone else ever seen this? It's sent out with my PW Weekly children's email. It's a webcomic of a guy who writes picture books. Sometimes it's not really funny, but sometimes it's hilarious. I liked today's:

Let me know if you can't see it. I've clicked on previous links and been unable to, but it seems to work now.

I guess you had to be there. I read a few, but the only one I liked was the Annie Hall reference, and then only because it made me want to stop reading and watch Annie Hall.

He also doesn't make the text large enough. I have to lean in close to read it at all.

On the other hand, this comic prompted a fairly big IM discussion with Stacer over some of the publishing and literary topics in some of the stories, so it definitely has that going for it. The only other comic I get into discussions about is...probably none of them. Maybe Dinosaur Comics?

Maybe that's why all the books topics are so small lately. Everything interesting to be said is in private IM conversations.

I refuse to take responsibility for that. All my IM conversations lately have been shallow and fickle.

How come no one asks me the thought provoking questions via IM? Is it because I'm a jerk?

Reading thought this I can't help but think this thread should be in the Webcomic board, since that what is it, but on the other hand I didn't get a single joke since I'm not in the biz so maybe it doesn't.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

Yeah, I thought about putting it there, but then decided since it was about books, perhaps it would be of more interest here.
