Quitting for the night at an impressive 1,747.

Man, I am sooo far behind.  At least I did some major prewriting today that's cemented the plot pretty well, making it much easier to come up with scenes to write.

So I'm starting to pick up speeds of 800-900 words an hour.  If only I could get myself to write four hours a day, I'd be in good shape.

I know what you mean. I need to find the time to just sit down and make myself write. As it is, I've been at the church every night this week so far, and will be there again tomorrow night. Then Friday night is Harry Potter (no way I'm staying home to write instead). Saturday is the day I always *intend* to spend catching up, but usually end up running errands and then coming home to take a nap. :)

But I don't see anything on my schedule this weekend, actually, so maybe I can get some solid writing time in. And then next week I have both Thanksgiving Day (busy busy) and the day after (not so busy) off work, so hopefully I can fill Friday and Saturday with writing. Or at least spend a *few* hours on it, which is more than I've done all week.

Ah, NaNoWriMo. The time for me to guilt myself with more intensity than the rest of the year. And the story still just percolates.

Tomorrow we're doing HP early (so we get good seats—I could theoretically bring my laptop, but it would be a hassle.  I'm going to read instead), and then dinner.  I don't know how much time I'll have to write.

Saturday there's some huge YSA conference or other that lasts like 12 hours.  So not much time to write there, either.

I'm doomed.

I'd be up for January.  That's usually a pretty good month for me.  And it's the month of my birthday.

Are you serious about it?

We could call it something else...like TWGNoWriMo.

Who? Did someone propose doing it another month? Because January would be a better month, I think. But I think we should still be able to count what we've already got. :D

I'm a lot happier with my novel, now.  It may still completely suck, but I HAVE A PLOT!!!!

WOOOO!!!

I have a complete plot, and it's a wonderful feeling.  I've struggled so hard with coming up with a plot before, and I've never succeeded.  Now I have a plot, and I'm writing a novel I feel is not absolutely and utterly boring.  I could be wrong, but I think it might have some potential after a few rewrites.

Yes Stacer, I suggested continuing another month. I proposed January because it would be a month off, it would avoid the craziness that the holiday season usually brings, and it would be the start of a new year. I am sure that nobody would have a problem with you keeping your word count if you like, so if it comes together, then why not? I would probably reset my word count myself, but I would be working on the same story, because I have a timeframe on it that I really have to meet.

Well, I'm rather behind this year.  18k so far.  Of course, I took a week off to work on another project, so I'm only now looking back to creating new material.  So, 7k of that 18 was done today....

I'll say that I'm sad we're not doing the calendar this year.  That isn't to say that I'm chastising SE for not doing it--more, I'm thanking him for the previous years.  I think that really helped motivate people.  We'll have to see if we can set something up for next year, something that SE doesn't have to spend all of this time working on.

EUOL, how close are you to revising Alcatraz, by the way? I hadn't heard from you.

ARG!!!!!

Instead of writing my novel like I'm supposed to be, I instead came up with a completely new novel idea on which I have written 2,400 words of prewrite material--snatches of scenes and such.

And it's a vampire novel, of all things.  I've never even *read* a vampire novel.

Come to think of it, it's actually less a vampire novel and more a teen problem novel in which the problem is that the teen is a vampire.

Point being, this is NOT what I'm supposed to be working on.

I don't have writer's block.  I have writer's ADD.  At this rate I am never going to finish ANYTHING ever again.

You have to admit, that's pretty funny. I love that the "problem" is that the teen is a vampire. :) Read Twilight if you ever get a chance. Though the problem in that one isn't that the girl is a vampire, it's that her crush is.

Stacy,

Alcatraz will be going through several more revisions.  I just did a spot revision, fixing some problems my agent had noted, and then sent it back to him.  However, I'm still waiting on reader responses on the book, and after those I'll do another revision.  So, get back to me whenever, but don't feel any pressure!
