Title: Is that the tinkle of breaking paradigms I hear?
Post by: mbarker on March 03, 2009, 08:11:15 AM
How can any story that starts with a breakdown in accuracy, efficiency, and the fourth wall be anything but amusing, eh?

I wonder if Howard's office has a small box with a glass front and a label that says "Break Fourth Wall in Case of Emergency"?

I don't think you could call it a breaking paradigm at this point. More like a broken one. Really the fourth wall has been in pieces almost since the comic began. That tinkling noise you hear is the crunching sound the pieces make under our feet as we trudge forward.

[sarcasm]Fourth wall?  What fourth wall?  We don't need no stinking fourth wall.[/sarcasm]

Given that the comic has an author avatar who's shown up a couple of times (as the author, not an in-strip character), I really don't think we need to be all surprised if the comic is occasionally self-aware.

And over the crunching sound underneath our trudging feet, we hear the fine geek chorus in panel four over here http://www.schlockmercenary.com/d/20090304.html

Antiphonal effects, no less!
