Title: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Post by: Dex1138 on September 16, 2004, 10:20:50 AM
No, not Christmas...I'm talking Halloween  ;D
That one time of the year when it's ok to let your dark side loose on the neighborhood.
Do you decorate? Dress up? Stay home? Go out? Turn off your lights and pretend to not be home?

I have a wife who doesn't like halloween. I play video games or whatever else I'd normally do.

and btw, Thanksgiving is the most wonderful time of the year. Expressing your gratitude by over-eating. And such wonderful food. YAY!

You know, I've gone to World Fantasy over Halloween the last four years or so, so I've missed out.

Hum....  Maybe it's time for another infamous Brandon Mystery Party.

I agree with SE's wife: I dislike Halloween.  Sure, every year we'll have a little party, but that's it -- no costumes, no trick-or-treating stuff, and especially no haunted houses or spook alleys.

I think tomorrow is the most wonderful time of year, cuz it's my birthday!

I've been talking with old roommates who I had been planning on visiting back in August, but it never worked out. So looking at my schedule, I may be in the Provo area Halloween weekend. Still not sure if it's going to happen or not.

I definitely don't see the big deal against halloween. I loved the ward halloween parties (including the spook alley on the stage) when I was little. And trick-or-treating was fun even though we couldn't eat any of the candy (because we have hypoglycemics in the family). We always made very creative costumes. One year I was a Macintosh SE/30 (made out of cardboard). I think my sister and I were both telephones at times.

I think skull masks are stupid, but there are lots of cool things you can do on halloween.

I was Princess Leia last year for Halloween, and I'll tell ya, I got the most attention from guys from my house to the church dance. Guys on the bus (perfect strangers) were arguing over who got to sit next to me. One guy yelled out the window of his truck, "I love you Princess Leia" or something like that. It was hilarious.

So I have fun on Halloween, but I wouldn't have even thought of dressing up if my roommate (Belle) hadn't convinced me to go with her.

Hey Stacer, were you wearing the slave girl outfit? That would explain a lot! *hehe*
Our usual thing is to spend the night in Salem just walking around. There are tons or people, most in costume. It's always a good time and I get to scare the bezezzus out of people  ;D
We're having a party this year the weekend before, it's actually more of a Halloween themed casual get together.
Also heading to Six Flags next month. They're doing some themed stuff at night.

She wasn't even wearing the slave girl outfit, she just made a really good Leia.

And Ookla, I agree with you on Halloween.  I refuse to go into more detail than that as I'll end up personally insulting the .... different....opinions of other people.

Ookla (and Fuzzy), my dislike of Halloween isn't based on any weird personal beliefs -- it's not that I find it satanic or anything.  I just don't like the idea of dressing up.  And, after working three years at a haunted house, I just don't think they're that neat.

It's just not my cup of tea.  We still carve jackolanterns, and my daughter will dress up and we'll take her around to the neighbors and relatives, but I just don't get into it.

my wife's thing is the whole scary bit. I can't watch a scary movie ever, let alone celebrate scariness.

yeah, it's hard to take a slasher film seriously if it's named after water.

Waterworld :) Ok so it wasn't a slasher movie, but it sure was horror.
