Coraline
« on: September 13, 2004, 08:36:45 AM »
So I just heard the option is being exercised to make a Coraline movie. Did anyone who heard Gaiman speak at WorldCon hear him say anything about it? According to my sources (child_lit listserv), it's going to be directed by Henry Selick, who also did The Nightmare Before Christmas.

That is one creepy, creepy book.

I bet the movie isn't half as creepy.

Ok, by stacers retort it would seem that Gaiman was at WorldCon. And by that I hope someone got his Hancock for me. I would be ever so pleased at the moment to hear that. Oh, so, pleased.

yes, he was.

and no, we didn't

partly because we weren't asked, and partly because it takes a lot of work to get one when we could be doing stuff for ourselves (us being the ones who paid for attendance).

and mostly because we like to mock you.

Actually, he did Saint.

Yeah, he did, but I didn't wait in line for anyone's autograph. Sorry.

But if you like Cornelia Funke, I could get hers for you next month. She's coming to my class.

Chris got some books signed by Gaiman and Pratchett, but I don't think anyone got Gemm an autograph.

I'll get you one sometime, Gemm.  May take a few years, though.

After all, I'm still working on that photograph thing....

No.  He asked me to show his photograph to Micah, and I keep forgetting.

Speaking of your photo, Gemm, I finally showed it to Micah.  He was impressed--he said it was very good.  He complimented the composition and the framing, whatever that means, and said the exposure was very well-done.

When I asked him what advise he could give, the only thing he suggested was for you to go in and clean up the 'UFO's. Apparently, that's how photographers refer to little specks or dots in a photograph that draw attention away from the colors and composition.  In this case, he was talking about the little floaties and things in the water.  He said it was a minor deal, but implied if you cloned those out with PhotoShop, you'd have a slightly better picture.
