I'm just here for the food.  It's great.  Not only is it fun to read, but it really explains the science side of cooking.  The main thrust of the book is teaching you how to cook and why it all works, rather than just giving you a list of recipes.
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier.

Yes I love it, he completly blows away some theories of cooking and then shows you ways to cook that you can easily build off of knowing the fundamentals of science.

My engineering and bio-professor brothers love Alton Brown. He does a really good job of explaining the theories and principles behind cooking. However, I personally find his acting on his show to be awful.
