Brandon Sanderson / Re: Hoid??
« on: June 10, 2009, 02:34:40 AM »
On the topic of Hoid in WoA....
So I asked Brandon Sanderson at the release party if Hoid was the man I mentioned earier, or if it  was the old man who claims Sazed to be the Holy First Witness, or the guy who found the correct properties for duraluminum, and Brandon said no.

But he did say that he was in there.

Now I'll have to reread WoA after reading Warbreaker.....

One thing to keep in mind here is that this is Vin we're talking about.....
Hey what doyou know, I think I just quoted the book!  ;)

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Elantris vs. Mistborn *Spoilers*

Speaking of annotations, when will we (probably) start seeing HoA annotations?

If there were battle ready Elantrians, I say Team Opelon totally wins.  Because if you had a smart enough Elantrian, he could make siege weapons like you've never thought about, or booby trap his clothes, or change his looks so that he looks like the Mistborn. The Aons can just do so much more than Mistborns or Furchemists.  Unless you get into Hemalurgy or Atium/Lerasium......

edit- wrote Furchemy instead of Hemalurgy

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Kelsier and Ruin *Spoilers*

I disagree. I think that Ruin influenced Kelsier, with things like the eleventh metal. In fact I think EUOL mentions something about it.... let me see if I can find it.......

I'm going too!

Ooh! Congratulations on also becoming a forum moderator!

I believe that the Ati (the red head, coming from Atium) has always been the cognitive force (intellect) behind the spiritual and physical aspects of Ruin. I believe that he has always been the intellect since the Shattering of Andolasium, when the shards where spread out throughout the universe.

But who knows? It might all be multiple universes. We'll probably have to wait till Way of Kings to find out more.

Well what do you know...
(this is Brandon Sanderson from the HoA thread)

So are all these epic novels in the same universe? Elantris, Mistborn, Dragonsteel, all that?
I'm afraid that question is best left to the rest of you, for now, to discuss.

He may have told other people things at signings, but this is all he says on the forum.

Edit: spelling

I don't know. I think that Mr. Sanderson could wrap it all up in a fourth book.

Ooh! I just had an idea!
While reading Alcatraz 2....
Quote
The Worldspire is said by the Free Kingdomers to be the exact center of the world. It's a massive glass spike running from the upper atmosphere directly into the center of the planet -- whic is, of course, made of glass. Isn't everything?

Later (I can't find it now), it says that  "Of course, I only saved the world because I put it in danger in the first place"

Now this may be him losing the Lenses of Rashid, or he mightt just somehow break the world spire!
(unlikely, yes, but it's just an idea)

Oh, and I think that Alcatraz I lens might make Occulators for those that use it (Bastille)?

Brandon Sanderson / Mr. Sanderson won the Whitney award!
« on: May 07, 2009, 03:51:33 AM »
I just found out that Brandon Sanderson won the Whitney award for Best Speculative Fiction!
The Whitney award is an award given to LDS authors who write novels (at least 50,000 words long).

The other contestants were:

"Ender in Exile," Card; "The Great and Terrible: From the End of Heaven" (Vol. 5), Chris Stewart; "The Hero of Ages" (Mistborn, Book 3), Sanderson; "The Host," Stephenie Meyer; and "The Wyrmling Horde: The Seventh Book of the Runelords," David Farland.

Congratulations!
More information can be found here: http://www.whitneyawards.com/

Yes, miyabi it was. It just seemed to fit.

Well, how many female knights are there to use for scale, kolo?
And on the cover of book two, it's hard to draw proportions right when you need to draw four? people on/in a giant glass dragon.
