If they're big on squats and step, that's a definite no, I'm afraid. PT says absolutely no squats or step. My knees grind whenever they move, so the thought of doing that sort of thing just make me think painful thoughts anymore. :( I miss dancing.

I still recommend Tae-Bo, then. Mostlly punches and kicks. Although, if your knees are really bad, you may want to look at swimming.

Well kicks (or at least the ones I do at MA) involve bending the knee in order to maintain balance (I was told this after nearly falling over a lot while doing forward kicks). Especially roundhouse kicks, lotsa knee stuff there.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Yeah, everyone recommends swimming. I used to swim regularly in Chicago, but I could afford a gym back then. There is a pool at school, but the hours are 6-7 am Mon-Wed-Fri, 12-1 Tues Thurs, and 5-6pm some other days. Really hard to fit into a hectic schedule. I'm around the corner from the community pool at the high school and keep meaning to look into it. Another thing to add to the list. If only spring would come--good biking weather is so rare around here, and biking in the rain is not only uncomfortable, but dangerous, on these streets.
