Title: Mistborn RPG
Post by: astrawberrynuke on December 28, 2009, 01:08:07 AM
Like eight months ago this was announced, then the information flow kinda died. I'm just curious if anyone knows if this project is still going on. I was rather excited, especially if they included the plot that stayed true to the books.

Thanks. :)

(Gosh, I love these smilies  8))

Yeah, I've had the same question.  All we really have now is the new tentative release date, which is, I think, Fall 2010.  The crafty games forum had someone ask the same question.  An employee assured the questioner that more info would be forthcoming in the coming months.  Yeah, that's pretty much all we know.  But perhaps Brandon has written stuff for the game that Peter would know about.  Hint. Hint.

I don't know anything about the RPG beyond what has been said in public.

Bah, fer shame. Oh well, at least there's something out there. Thanks blokes. Hopefully Crafty Games will set up a booth at E3 which'll include the RPG or just SOME information. :(

As far as I'm aware, E3 is a *video* game expo, which the mistborn RPG isn't. Unless, of course, I missed the fact that E3 does more than video games, now.

E3 does computer and video games. Computer RPG's count.

Unless I'm seriously mistaken and it's like D&D, than I'm more than willing to admit to my idiocy. :' )

Yeah, the mistborn RPG is a pen and paper RPG, not a video game :P

Oh good, I've been needing a reason to use the tearful smiley.

Oh, darn. :'(

It's low-tech.  Strange concept to some, I know.

In the olden days we used to gather around a table with Mountain Dew and Cheetos either in a coffeehouse or someone's living room (or if we're really being ostracized, a garage or basement) and roll dice while telling each other stories about what our characters were doing.

So, we're getting together the Saturday after this comes out right?

You wanna DM or you want me to do it?  Also, we need more people.

H aha ha ha. xD

I absolutely would...except I doubt that either one of us wants to think about the amount of travel that sort of thing would involve.  I just need to talk my local fan friends into playing with me (I recently discovered another one!).

I know one,  MAYBE two people who would play.

And that's no fun.

Maybe we should set up a forum for it with a dice roll tool that rolls when you post and puts it on an editable part of the post.

Heh, my gaming group is gonna play it, whether they like it or not. :D

Problem being, my gaming group has all spread across the country, and I never took the time to find a new one.

Yeah, we've had a gaming group that's been going for the greater part of....gah...almost 10 years now. It's changed over the years as people came and went, some returned, some haven't, but all in all it's been a pretty persistent group.

We play all kinds of stuff, mostly whatever everyone is in the mood for.

I also REALLY want to find a Star Wars group.  :(  It actually makes me really sad sometimes to think that I can't play the Star Wars P&P.

Heh, we were playing that a few months ago (actually probably about a year now). We just finished an All Flesh Must Be Eaten campaign, and getting ready to start pathfinder this weekend.

I'm jealous.  Though when the MB P&P comes out I'm going to FORCE people to join if I have to.

I'll just wave my hand and say, "You do want to game with me."

A lot of pen-n'-paper RPG's can be played with some clever manipulation of instant-messaging programs, thankfully. My gaming group does all its sessions over MSN Messenger, now, with a virtual dice roller/roll viewer a friend of mine coded.

Man, I'm getting excited for this thing all over again.

That's the speed of it for me too...
1 in Madison, WI
1 in Boston, Mass
1 in Florida
4 still in state but in 4 different counties

I really did try to get gaming again though!

The other gaming group I had afterward is not quite as spread out but have either tired of gaming or have not the time or transit to gather (plus we lost our gaming spot and people have pet allergies so my house is not an option).

I probably need to get into PbP or online tabletop viewers.

Yes, I know. I came up with the name when I was 13. Give me a break.

I have yet to turn that community on to BS's work in general, but I've made the recommendation to a number of people.

I've heard that Google Wave is also an effective platform for classic RPG play.

I was thinking that...well...you'd need a dice roller outside of wave but wave for all the chat/collaborative/handouts

I haven't really looked into Google Wave all that much. It seems worth investigating.

Oh, and if I get permission from their original creator, I'll put up the links for the dice roller and roll viewer my group uses.

Coming from someone who actually has wave... it very likely would be. It's a useful tool, and RPG's would work great on it.

I have wave as well, but I've barely used it. Currently, I can't find any use for it that isn't all ready filled through some other aspect of computing.

Though, speaking of wave, I have 5 remaining invites, should anyone want one. PM me your email address if you do.

Obviously, first come, first serve.

According to this (http://www.crafty-games.com/files/File/Pen_and_Paper_Games_Chat-10-17-09.pdf) interview Crafty Games has pushed Mistborn back to Q3 or Q4 of 2010. :(

I don't think that's a push back... from what I understand, late 2010 is where it's been for a while.

It takes time to put this stuff together, folks. Hell, it usually takes a couple months just for printing and shipping.
