Bringing Up Baby
« on: January 18, 2004, 05:44:34 PM »
What would I do without TCM?  Anyone else seen this movie?  (Aimed at stacer, Brenna, and MoD, since guys seem not to watch old Cary Grant movies without female coercion.)

This movie rocks - is it really not available on DVD?

That's on my list of favorite Cary Grant movies not available on DVD. By the way, I just got a notice that Meet Me In St. Louis is coming out on DVD soon. Yay! But at the top of my list for great movies not on DVD is My Favorite Wife. We don't pay the extra to get TCM, which makes me very sad (on the bright side, the four of us split a $10 a month cable bill to get 70-something channels, so we've got a great deal, just no TCM). We do have AMC, but they don't play the great movies they used to, and they've added commercials. Most of my classic movie collections was gained by taping from AMC in their good days. I have 20 Cary Grant movies, and still don't have some of the best, like Bringing Up Baby.

In undergrad I lucked out and had the subject of my Comp II course be movie comedies.  We watched a new comedy everyday, starting with silent movies and working out way up to the Coen Brothers.

Bringing up Baby was our 50's era movie and I remember it rocking pretty hard.  Thought it was in the shadow of a WC Fields movie we'd seen the week before.

Lot's of classic hijinks

I actually haven't seen "Bringing Up Baby," though I've heard good things about the movie.  My two favorite movies that don't seem to be on DVD are "How to Steal a Million" with Audrey Hepburn and Peter O'Toole, and "Gidget" with Sandra Dee.
