Title: The Cast of Hitchikers guide
Post by: Mad Dr Jeffe on April 05, 2004, 08:51:10 AM
For your edification

Martin Freeman as Arthur Dent
http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/theoffice/characters/images/main_tim.jpg

Martin Freeman plays the insanely normal Tim in the hit BBC comedy the Office. Understated and acting like the boy next door, Freeman will make an excellent Arthur Dent.

Warwick Davis as Marvin the Paranoid android...
Well this is a stretch, but I can see him pulling a good performance out of his whoopsidaisy.

Zooey Deschanel as Tricia Mcmillon, Trillion to you

Zooey plays Williams Sister in the Cameron Crow Rock homage movie almost famous, she was also in the small budget film the good girl and the huge budget success Elf. With that kind of range she'll do just fine...

Mos Def plays Ford Prefect

Thats Mos Def on the left

I found this to be a strange choice, I mean he was ok in the Italian job, but I dont know if he can convince me that he's Ford Prefect.

Sam Rockwell as Zaphod Beeblebrox

A strong choice, with charisma oozing out of his pores this star of the movie matchstick men will be a great Zaphod... dig.

All those choices look great. Even Mos Def, although he's going to have to convince me.

Reports from DNA (Adams old web site) hint that Adams wrote the part with a black guy in mind...

I do, however, find it terribly interesting that we had to wait for Mr. Adams to die to get this movie. I mean, leaving any part of it up to him would have pushed any deadline back by severl hundred years

well, it's made by acompany in association with DIsney. I have more hope for this than I do for the Narnia ones, though I have fears.

I agree that Mos Def could be a good choice, but I've always thought that the actor playing Ford in the old miniseries was absolutely perfect, so it will be a tough job to replace him. When's the movie coming out?
