Now that poll functionality has been restored, we have a new poll. Long live the revolution!
-
Todays Poll forgot the countries of Bulemia and Anorexia.
-
I visited Bulimia once. The food was great, but I couldn't keep it down.
-
Yeah, so who was that guy sitting next to him?
-
Just the clerk, as far as I can tell. His job was to check the pre-order list and hand out copies.
-
I'm impressed by how many of us have been to more than one continent. We're a well-traveled bunch.
-
Na, it's just that most Utahins consider anything outside of this state "another country".
-
Except the poll asks who has been to another continent, not country. And I'm pretty sure even Utahns realize that you have to go farther than Nevada or Colorado to reach another continent.
-
Just an interesting tidbit, my husband diagnosed the 2nd case of West Nile virus in Utah last week. He was pretty proud of himself.
-
Hooray! Though... that's kinda scary.
Mosquitos are such a problem out here. I'm going to go see Shakespeare in the park on the Boston Common--it's free! But this reminds me that I'm definitely gonna need bug spray. :P
-
I have a feeling there may be many people clicking on the Xanthophobia due to the lithe knowledge base of what it is exactly.
-
I looked it up, and was so freaked out by the words that I nearly screamed.
I can barely type with these leering smileys above my text box.
-
Ok, honestly, psychic awakening? C'mon! What a lousy way to become super-powered. There's always some silly way to make you become obsolete.
-
Macgyver takes the first round easily, 13 to 3. I do believe that this was the best choice, but only because the Professor never got a chance to really let loose and show what he could do. We're talking about a man who built a radio out of non-conductive materials--I bet he could give Macgyver a run for his money given equal footing.
But that's beside the point--he's gone, and Macgyver remains. On to round 2!
-
Round 2 goes to R2-D2, to the immense surprise of absolutely no one. K9 is awesome, but let's be honest--this is R2-fricking-D2. He could take Vin Diesel and Chuck Norris at the same time, and not even notice how easily he beat them.
-
Scotty edged out Geordi in our closest vote yet. I imagine that Scotty won because he didn't have to fall back on Data every time something went really wrong.
The next vote is a really hard one. I honestly don't know who I'd pick.
-
And he did it with style. There was an episode of TNG where the Enterprise D crew found Scotty in some suspended animation transporter thing. Scotty told Geordi that he always told the captain that repairs would take longer than they really would, so he could appear to miraculously fix it in the nick of time. That just rocks.
-
I'm actually not surprised that Batman won so easily.
I predict he will also beat Scotty in the next fight and have to face down R2 (who will win today's fight, I think). The resolution of that battle between godlike troubleshooters is anyone's guess.
edit: I suppose it's not as clear-cut as I think. The office admin, who correctly predicted the victor of everyone of last week's matches, believes that Mac could take R2 -- the deciding factor being mobility. She however, does agree with me that Batman can easily take Scotty and go on to beat Mac.
-
To my surprise, MacGuyver took R2. It wasn't a runaway victory, but every time I checked the numbers, MacGuyver always had the lead. I don't understnad you people
So, who gets to take on MacGuyver? Batman or Scotty? Only you can decide!
-
Well SE, it would seem that Batman has taken an early lead. As we all know Batman is known for having amazing reflexes and his reaction response here is not surprising.
However, I wouldn't underestimate Scotty just yet. The man can go from 1 vote now, to 25 in only a few seasons. Or was it between the movies that the fat attached itself to him? Either way, this man will beam himself a good many votes before this ones over.
SE, your thoughts?
-
Scotty's weight is certainly an important factor to consider, but we can't forget that Batman has the advantage of experience, and a lot of money. And better training. And a healthier body.
But who will win is anyone's guess.
Boy this is exciting.
-
'Boy' is right SE. Batman having a net worth of 4.35 million dollars is certainly an advantage.
However, Scotty's known for turning over the crowd as he comes through in the end for everyone.
Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this Batman's first year in the Troubleshooter Faceoff? Last year Scotty won 4 of his 5 matches.
-
Yes, in terms of the tournament, he's a rookie, but he's been troubleshooting for the GCPD for 60 years now, and he doesn't look a day over 35.
-
Well, I'm on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to see where this one ends!
We'll be back after this long break in programming to bring you more commentary, results, and maybe even some stuff on upcoming contestants.
-
Scotty enjoyed a brief surge in the voting last night, nearly catching up to the Dark Knight, but Batman did what he did best and came through. Seems like Scotty didn't over-estimate the time needed by enough.
And so, now we enter the title bout: the championship. The winner of this gets to take home all the peanuts folks. Who is it gonna be? MacGuyver, who only needs some pocket lint and a loose piece of cement to build anything he needs? Or the enigmatic detective of Gotham, who doesn't seem to need to build anything because it's already on his belt?
-
I thought Batman vs. the A-Team was a tough choice, but Batman vs. Macgyver is downright impossible. This is truly a battle of titans.
-
Well Fell, it would seem someone ripped a page out of your book, because the winner has a clear cut victory over his foe. Not that I wouldn't imagine such an act coming from the Dark Crusader.
And in the Blue corner, Batman topples his foe, utterly smokes his enemy, vanquishes his victim, decisively defeated his nemesis in this contentious last round of the Troubleshooter Faceoff!
-
I think that MacGuyver IS Batman.
-
I agree with Ookla on this one.
-
They've never been photographed together, to my knowledge.
-
I particularly enjoyed the option to choose 'Sheesh'.
-
*Giggles at the poll*
Hai!
-
Hm, I had to look up "oyako."
-
I should have more correctly put "oyako don" or oyako donburi," but I wanted to go with just single words.
-
Ya I had to think about that one since we just called it Donburi in my mission.
-
I added it to the poll because I was craving it yesterday. I ended up just finding a recipe and making it--it's pretty easy, and very tasty.
-
Hmm. You forgot the obvious one: gommen.
-
Please, Choudai should have been in there before Gomen. Same think with Baka or Ahou.
-
You're chiding me for leaving off an obvious inclusion in a poll? Are you familiar with my polls?
-
I've been mulling over thoughts for a jolly good Thanksgiving sort of poll. I think I may just write it up and submit...
Edit: Poll sent your way, Fell! Courtesy of me and Nessa. :)
-
As much as I cringe to make a double post.... in this case, I say the ends justify the means. There's a cool turkey day poll just languishing in somebody's email box. ;)
poke--->Fell.
-
Spriggo and I have been trying to make the poll work, but something about the forum change screwed it up and we can't access it at all. We don't know why, because the forum shouldn't have been connected to the poll at all, but there it is. We'll get it switched as soon as we can.
-
Sorry all this is my fault and I didn't have time to fix it before I went to NYC, I'll get it working next week.
-
Poll on the front page is mostly working. Got a problem that after you vote it doesn't refresh the page so I added some direct refresh stuff but I don't want to create a new poll just to check it. Let me know if it works or not.
