Yeah, I kind of do that too. You get warm from the morning commute, so you put it up in a comb or clip. By noon, the clip starts to get heavy, especially if you have really long hair. Mine's usually wet when I leave the house, too--no time to blowdry when it takes over a 1/2 hour for all my hair. So to let it dry, I take it down at noon, and by then the clip has bent it in strange places. So it's not smooth and nice anymore, so after lunch I end up going back and forth between up and giving me sinus headaches and down and looking wrinkled.

Oh, and having it down also just gets in the way, especially bending over a desk all day.

The solution: Baldness.

Yeah, that sounds like it must be the culprit.  And I guess it's not a big deal, since it doesn't stop the truck drivers from hitting on her.  (Then again, they're truck drivers.)

you don't have to be bald. buzzing works too.

Though if you buzz you have to touch it up sooner.

Or you can just tuck it all into a hat. Not as tight as having it pulled back but still out of the way.

It's really hard to get a lot of hair into a hat, and if someone was to put it out the back of their hat they generally use a pony-tail (I believe), thus making it tight...

I guess it really depends on how much hair you have.

the girl in question has a lot of hair, apparently, as it is long.

I know that, but without trying to put her hair into a hat, or even seeing her it is hard to tell how well it would work.

Actually, my hair is long. I don't think that Mustard specified how long the hair of the girl in question is.

Shoulder length.  Maybe a little longer.  Brown.  Slighty streaked.  Does that help?

Yeah, with shoulder length hair I am willing to bet that you could fit it into a hat without putting it up first.

Yes, but:

(1) Will it stay?

No. It will slip out eventually and look worse than ever.

(2) Is it a professional look for a receptionist, or anyone working in an office?

No.

Yeah, a hat wouldn't work here.  She's even higher up the totem pole than a secretary, and has to look fairly professional.

Being a lumber yard, we all have our own hard hats, though.  She could probably get away with wearing that, although, after two or three hours, she'd get some funny looks.

my office has an always-casual dress policy. When I interviewed I came in in a suit and felt quite out of place.
