lol lets stay on topic here darxbane. :) anyways i think that vin just figured out a way to 'see' atium shadows without burning atium. like when both mistborn are burning it theres a bunch of shadows because each is seeing what could happen which changes what they will do which changes what the other person will do and so on. vin just found a way to create the same effect of determining what the other user will do and thus changing what she would do without burning atium.

and anyway darxbane i don't think that we can attribute all of vin's advantages and cleverness to the well spirit. we have to give her more credit than that i think...

...was the power holding the entity from touching the world freely, like a seal? (

it seems to me that the last sentence of kwann's journal thing said that alendi musn't release the power or it would "release the creature imprisoned there" not a direct quote but i think it was something along those lines. either way it implied that the power was the prison rather than the prisoner and that it is something of a seal.

well i'm gonna go and steal the theory of balance from wot here just for the heck of it. for every good there must be a bad to compensate (or vice versa if you're the glass half empty type). anyways it would make sense to me that the well must have both ruin and preservation but it then becomes up to the "hero" to determine how it is used. so you could say that the lord ruler preserved the world by pushing back the mists. and in a way you could even say that he used nothing but preservation since it seems likely that Rashek considered his actions justified. but thats not my main point. what if the well spirit is ruin and the mist spirit is preservation? the mist spirit struck me as an ally of sorts. he tried to get sazed to stop vin, stabbed elend so vin would take the power rather than release it, and when that didn't work helped vin to save elend's life. he seems like the perfect avatar for preservation. imo. :)

i think something else that supports the theory that the 16th metal takes away a mistborns powers is that the lord ruler presumably made allomancers. he would have built in a weakness (the 16th metal?) just like he did with the inquisitors, the kandra, and the koloss. it would makes sense that if the lord ruler wanted to make mistborn, then he would want the ability to unmake them.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Theory on why Vin is so powerful *spoilers*

i think vin being a hemallurgist is a pretty strong point. the fact that the well spirit (or whatever it is) is able to "speak" to people with a spike in them is too strong to overlook. i'm wondering if maybe the voice of Reen in Vin's head is really the well spirit.

i'm under the impression that the inquisitors do have to burn metals. however, it seems like a possibility that all of those spikes (i believe marsh said there were 11 in mb1) aren't made of the same metal. each spike could be a different allomantic metal. perhaps they burn their spikes as a source for their power. there isn't a single scene in which an inquisitor has to ingest metals in order to continue a fight. and i think kelsier or vin would have noticed if they carried metal on them inside those robes of theirs.  but at the same time i doubt that its any kind of blend of feruchemy and allomancy. the lord ruler tried to wipe out the keepers for exactly that reason...he didn't want anyone else but him to have that mixture.
