OCR = OverClocked ReMix
A site that grew out of a comic about emulation written by David "DJ Pretzel" Lloyd" in order to increase and regularly practice his music skills. Though Video Game Music ReMixing sites existed, such as
www.kwed.org, OCR was the first to feature and accept music of all genre, not just techno, and from all systems past and present, not just C64.
Since that time several years ago, OCR has gone through around three site redesigns, the creation of a judges panel to accept or reject various mixes, an accepted amount of mixes over 1500 now, (albeit not quite since some were removed), a huge community growth, and a restatement of the sites mission statement, changing the focus of the site from remakes to reintepretation, a move which split the community in two, and ended up with
www.vgmix.com forming and eventually also redesigning.
Today, there's the site, the forums, an official podcast and a huge community. OCR doesn't mean video game music remix, but any song bearing the OCR title has been accepted on this particular site, kinda a guaranteee of quality.
