I was hoping this one would be as good as the trailers hinted. Maybe I'll see it this weekend too.

Oh, and I totally cracked up here:  "Stark instead builds a mechanized super suit and fights his way out. He then returns home to the land of the free and the home of the Whopper."

Brandon Sanderson / Re: The "Snapping" Thread

No, the nobleman are very keen on learning if their kids are allomancers or not. In fact, it's mentioned several times that they have a tradition of allomantic "hazing" where they purposefully take their kids and beat the snot out of them at a really young age. Straff Venture had Elend properly brutalized, but nothing came of it.

I'm pretty darn sure that the bead of unknown metal at the Well is what made El an allomancer. Of course, he'd still have to "snap" to become one--and I'd say that being stabbed by the Mist Spirit and almost dying are pretty traumatic.

Yeah, I suppose I could, but after living in Boston for 3 years, I am so sick of public transportation. Anyhow, I'm sure I can get my dad to drop me off on his commute from Orem to SLC. Or maybe I can round up my Utah writing group gals to drive us all up there. That would be sweet.

So, I will be completely selfish and say that I want alpha readers to keep posting. I like them.
...Sorry Brandon, I had to say it.
Ah, wish for what you will, but here Brandon is EUOL. And it's a decidedly bad idea to thumb one's nose at an evil undead overlord. Just sayin'.

Hey, I just realized that I'll be in Utah visiting my fam when CONduit is in town. Yay! Maybe I'll sign up for membership. Only trouble is transportation since I'm leaving my car here in Mass. Carpool, anyone?

I see Skar post less and less these days. So I don't know how often he visits the site just to "lurk" rather than post.

Yes, there is. But that thread is populated with forum members who *aren't* alpha readers and are therefore just speculating (gleefully) about the secrets that HoA might hold.

I've purposely kept silent after a slight misstep a while ago, because apparently I sounded like I was gloating about having read the book. (oops) Really, I was just expressing how I (like yourself) thought that HoA was an excellent end to the Mistborn series. So I'll just stick by that statement and say no more.

Moreover, I think we alpha readers ought *not* to explain why we do or don't think people will love HoA. That would be crossing the boundaries of proprietary courtesy or something. (Wow, I've been reading too many book contracts today I think...)

I'm at work on what is a holiday (Patriot's Day) for most people here in Mass. And I'm sick, again. I was sick in Feb for President's Day weekend; sick again in April for Easter weekend; and now sick for Patriot's Day. My boss decided not to come in because of all the Boston Marathon Runners (25,000+) today. Don't you just hate it how bosses can decide not to come in at the drop of a hat, but if you did that there would be big trouble?

Titles are evil hegemonic constructions.

That being said, mine is cool.  8)

Oh, that reminds me, I need to read Scalzi's The Last Colony soon. Right now I'm reading Good Omens by Gaimen and Terry Pratchet. What an absurdly enjoyable book. so far.

I think the system EUOL and I came up with should allow for easier viewing of the different colors and metal types then what Badali has.
Yay for that! It's really frustrating how they have that now. You barely get a look at the color before it morphs into another.

But the main problem is this: too many awesome ones to chose from!
