Hi. I thought I remembered hearing about another new series that Brandon was planning to do somewhere so I did some searching and found a blog entry that confirmed warbreaker 2 -hooray- and Dragonsteel and he also mentioned that there was a sample chapter for it but the link was dead. Does anyone still have a copy they can send me?
-
I would much like that as well.
-
The link just had a ] at the end.

And here are the three chapters of Scribbler:

Ookla the MAGNIFICENT more like
Thanks a lot

Scribbler is awesome, and it saddens me that I won't get to read more for at least a year.
Of course, I did get to read the whole book, which is more than most people can say, so I should be grateful, right?
I didn't read The Liar of Partinel though. Waiting for the rewrite, since Brandon said it didn't turn out quite right and needs major revision. That may be even further in the future though, since Way of Kings has taken its spot on the publication schedule.
-
Heh, and here I had just returned to EUOL the hard copy of the first half of Dragonsteel that he had lent me years ago and then I forgot about until I found it whilst moving.
-
-_- Just rub it in Sprig. . .ha ha.

And that doesn't count the other earlier books that he wrote and may never go back to, even though I think it's likely he'll go back to White Sand someday.
Does that answer your question?
[EDIT: Added more Mistborn.]

Scribbler 2,3
I loved the first one and hope it gets picked up so 2 and 3 come out and I find out what went wrong at ****'s *********. The best part of the book for me is the fact that the main character is the only one without magical abilities to start off with and he is the one that ***** *** ***.....or is he?
Better? :evil grin:
-
Err, that's too spoilery even for my standards. Nice try but you might want to rephrase. Especially because a very important part of book 1 will now be held off until book 2.
-
I went back and edited; don't want to lose my fell point. Chicks dig fell points.
-
OMGSH! I have White Sand somewhere on my computer but haven't yet managed to get to reading it yet. . . .
-
Which version of White Sand? The first one or the one that's actually any good?
(Okay, I haven't actually read the first one.)
I liked the later White Sand. It has its flaws, but the magic system is a lot of fun. And it has ninjas. (More or less.)
VegasDev: Better.
-
Well, I received it first a couple years ago, but then had to move and it was on my uncles computer and got deleted. This one I got about a month ago.
-
Chicks dig fell points.
Oh, is that so? Do you also have sweet skills, like bowhunting skills, or computer hacking skills, or numchuck skills?

If you remember my topic (http://www.timewastersguide.com/forum/index.php?topic=5973.0) I actually use my skills for good things. ha ha.

Well, I didn't want to brag, but since you ask....yes, I have successfully hunted over 35 bows in my lifetime. I have excellent hacking skills; I have the worst memory and always forget my password, so I have to hack into my own computer every day. As far as numchucks, I only hit myself in the groin every other time, although it no longer hurts when I do so. This might be a problem but...wait, I forgot what I was talking about? Have I piqued your interest yet? ;)
-
I'm digging it. :D

I'm confused about the progression of this thread.

I believe it was Vegas' comment about Fell points that totally threw us off.

Yes, that's right, keep bringing up my fell points. I shall soon be a legend amongst the peasants, making me their God; though they do not know what I do for them.

Meaningless threads started by trolls are the perfect place to go completely off topic.

Someone ate a few too many wheaties this morning. ::)

So, two questions:
How in the freak do you get "Fell Points"?
How would one get a copy of "the good version of White Sands"?
And please disregard the question mark outside of the quotation marks. I'm still learning how to do english gud. Engineering brain and all. :) lol

I got my Fell Point for being exceptionally hadsome, err I mean funny.
For the White Sands, probably just email Brandon. His addy is on the main board or it might even be in EUOL's profile.

Um, if you believe the question marks belong inside the quotation marks, wouldn't it have been faster to move them than to write three sentences of excuse and apology?
Personally, I've always thought that particular grammar rule was nonsensical, so I often ignore it and order my punctuation more logically. That is, unless I'm writing formally and trying to impress someone who (presumably) believes in that rule. :)

Fell points are for doing something cool.
To get any version of White Sand you have e-mail Brandon.
-
Umm, the question mark does belong outside the quotation marks in that instance. It's not part of the title. (Though the title should not be in quotation marks in the first place, so never mind.)
It's periods and commas that often behave "illogically" in Standard American English. Not question marks or exclamation points.
-
Do the rules still apply when playing Jeopardy, phrasing your answers in the form of a question? Blast you Trebek!!!!

How long does it usually take him to reply? Cause I emailed him 1 or 2 weeks ago and he neither confirmed nor denied whether he could email me those books.

It depends on how busy he is.

Everything kind of went out the door now that he spends so much time working on AMoL. I imagine he gets quite a bit of mail from the WoT crowd, both pos and neg. Give it time some time or possibly try to get tight with Brandon's crew.
-
I believe he's getting more than 100 legitimate e-mails every day now, and some days he skims for names that pop out and leaves the rest to deal with later in a big batch.
-
I dont think I could handle that.

Wow, didn't know that. Thanks, Ookla!

Wait so am I a troll? I have short hair and my eyes dont googly at all. ???
-
Just for the sake of up-ing my post count (Jay Kay! ehl oh ehl), I went to email Brandon about getting White Sands, and he had literally, not 5 minutes before, sent his reply to an earlier email I had sent him. Talk about cool. That being said, now I can't wait for White Sands (if I can get it).

Oh sorry, I was thinking this was one of the many threads recently started by UtopiaGreen. As far as I know you are utterly lacking in troll-ness.

Good grief!! :o No wonder he never replied to my email a while ago. Hmm. Maybe I need to be more creative with my email titles or something...
-
I'm in the same boat Shrain ;D, but I think maybe my email address is too weird and annoying to look real. :D
-
I see Brandon has a second and third Mistborn trilogy planned. I like this revelation. Anyone know anything about those trilogies?
-
Brandon has said at more than one signing that he eventually wants to revisit the Mistborn world. The second trilogy would be a few hundred years later, so it's more of a modern urban setting and the events of the first trilogy have passed into legend. The third trilogy would be even further into the future, in a more science fiction setting.
He won't get to it for a few years yet, though. I'm guessing he'll start the second Mistborn trilogy after at least 3 Way of Kings books are out, and the publishing gap between the end of the 2nd trilogy and the start of the 3rd trilogy will be a similar length to the publishing gap between the end of the 1st trilogy and the start of the 2nd trilogy.
Of the actual plot and characters of the 2nd and 3rd trilogies, nothing is known.
-
Thanks for the insight, Ookla. The idea of another six books set within the Mistborn universe is intriguing, but I'm unsure how well these books will come out. I guess I'll just have to wait until October to see how Brandon finishes up the current story before making any further decisions.
-
I'm kind of excited for the third trilogy already and the third book hasn't even come out. :D
-
Yeah. Me too. When I read Brandon's e-mail mentioning it to me (September 14, 2006), I about started jumping up and down. It's such a cool idea. A very ambitious idea I would love to see him pull off. There ought to be more fantasy novels set in outer space with spaceships and whatnot!
Of course, Brandon writes hard fantasy where the magic follows strict rules, so it may blend better with a space setting than some other types might.
Sigh... I'm tired, so for once I'll go to bed without reading the rest of the new posts in the forum...

Ugh, I totally know what you mean. I read the posts in all the boards and people's ridiculously long posts. I should have been in bed an hour ago, but I'm too busy reading new posts. I am OCD so I CAN'T go to bed until I am caught up or I won't sleep wondering what I didn't read.
