its thai curry, which has a different flavor than say curry powder its much more like a pepper sauce, more piquant and less savory.

In fact you could make it a more mexican or spanish flavored dish by taking out the lemongrass in the curry recipe and removing the coconut milk (substituting chicken stock with a little masa) and adding corn and tomato to the recipe.

Is it the heat, or just the flavor?

it's the flavor. And I've had both Indian and Thai curry. Not noticing enough to make a difference in taste.

hmmm, good to know.

The spices are intense, and very different than what our palate is used to. I made it a spicy dish though, because vegitarian food is often very bland.
