I'd say it's worth it.
Max is a Shadowblade, a supernatural--and supernaturally competent--warrior bound to protect her witch Giselle. As a Shadowblade, Max doesn't age. She is better, faster, stronger than any ordinary human being. And she hates it. Giselle betrayed her trust to make Max what she is, and though she is magically compelled to protect Giselle and follow orders, Max works against her witch in every way she can. A quick beginners question: How do we know Rayse possess the Odium? It's said that Rayse "holds the most frightening and terrible of all the Shards," (ch. 19, page 295, tWoK), but how do we know that Odium is the most frightening and terrible of all the Shards? We don't.
Reminds me of Schrodinger's Cat, and the uncertainty principle. Also, I don't think the Spren are Cultivation's creation. I think that they are the Splinters of the Almighty's consciousness/power, kind of like the mist spirit in Mistborn, and (possibly) the Seons in Elantris.Makes a lot of sense, if he's Transformation, given how the Spren accompany change.
Hmm, wonder if the fact that recording a fact about a spren locks that aspect of the spren in place plays into this? Like, they transform until they're recorded? Don't know exactly where I'm going with this
For a few extended moments, Shallan was back in the hallway again, watching something that should not be: a heretic wielding one of the most sacred powers in all the world. The power of change itself, the power by which the Almighty had created Roshar. He had another name, allowed to pass only the lips of ardents. Elithanathile. He Who Transforms.
It mentions in the book that Elithanathile is the Almighty's name. Could just be a creation of the Ardents though.Could you find the reference, please?
See, I took the Splinters of Aona to be the Seons and the Splinters of Skai to be the Skaze. Also, I don't think you're able to take up the power of a splintered Shard.I like this theory. To take it one step further - could the Spren be Splinters of the Almighty? Notice that there aren't any spren in the prelude, and spren are associated with each order of Knight Radiant (aligning nicely with ROSHtafARian's theory).
Cultivation is a Roshar Shard. And we're not sure whether the Almighty and the Stormfather are the same entity. Rayse/Odium is also a Roshar Shard.I disagree slightly. Cultivation is mentioned by the visions (Almighty), but I don't think this means that she is necessarily a Roshar Shard. Clearly, Rayse can travel between worlds, so clearly there is some communication between them.
